ASM 129 is one of my lifelong sore spots. I started collecting as a huge SM fan. For my 11th or 12th birthday, my big present was to go to the bigger city nearby to the big LCS that had a bunch of back issues. They were helping me with my list. We got to ASM 129 and I had already ran up about a $100 tab at that point. They had two copies. One for $5 and the other for $2.50. (VF and VG respectively). I opted for the $2.50 because I wanted to save my parents a few dollars.

There is a silver lining to your story.... at least you got a copy! and even a lower grade copy is worth considerably more than the $2.50 paid for it.

My only silver lining is..... that I like the Cover of the #135 Much better that that of the #129.

I guess you win some and you lose some! Im pretty happy with the new addition

Don't get me wrong. I'm ecstatic that I have it at all. I would rather have the one I have as opposed to none at all. I just know what I could have had. I agree with the 135, too. It's a way cool cover. I originally had that in the Marvel Tales reprint when I was little.

The story of how you came about owning the book and trying to save your folks a few bucks is worth more than any monetary value. That book regardless of condition has to hold a special meaning in your collection.

Since Flash series started at #105 a lot of people don't realize that a book like Flash 113 is actually 2-3 years older than ASM #1 about 1 year older than Fantastic Four #1.

@poka There's a decent looking Flash 127 going cheap right now on MCS auction. I believe it's the first cover of Gorilla Grodd and they have it graded at 4.5. I would be bidding on it but I just bought one from MCS a couple weeks ago. They called it 5.5, I think it would grade at 6.5.

Today’s Mail Call.

I’m working toward all the JLA/JSA crossover issues (still need 46, 64-65, 108, 159-60, 208-9, 231-32).

Ive always wanted this Captain Marvel Adventures as the Captain visits my home town of KC, MO and the story includes several realistic drawings of local landmarks.
