4th series #13, Legacy #613. The team is investigating the Someday Corporation, who appear to be kidnapping mutants and brainwashing them into being their soldiers.

Day 14 starts with the first appearance of the Sentinels and another great, early cover.

#114 is a less than great cover, IMO. But they can't all be winners.

#214. At the end of the Mutant Massacre, Malice possesses Dazzler.

#314 follows up on the Iceman/Emma Frost drama, where Emma shows Bobby that he hasn't really been exploring the full extent of his powers. This makes him

#514, the Dark Reign storyline continues. The X-Men (Dark and not) deal with Simon Trask, who is turning people into some kind of human-sentinel.

4th series #14, Legacy #614. I've never quite wrapped my head around Exodus. He seems to do whatever he wants/the plot calls for. But, reading his Wiki page, that seems to be his power set https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exodus_(comics)

Day 15 continues the battle with the Sentinels.

#115 has a trip to the Savage Land and thus a battle with Sauron. He doesn't get a lot of cred as a bad guy but this cover, along with 60 and 61, are cool ones in my book.

#215 has Storm in a Most Dangerous Game situation.

While 215 had the most dangerous game trope, #315 has the 'groups hold their own trials' trope as the Acolytes decide what to do with one of their own and Colossus plays lawyer.

I missed it somehow on the first pass of uploads, but I have a direct edition of this one as well.

#415, mostly a character development issue. Interestingly enough, given later developments, they go out of their way to suggest that Iceman is straight (which comes up because at the time Northstar has a crush on him).

#515 has the beginning discussions of the X-Men creating a mutant nation, along with the reappearance of Magneto and (separately) a new group of U-Men.

4th series #16, Legacy #615. Psylocke hasn't been fully on board with Magneto leading the current X-team, so she spends an issue on her own cleaning up some loose ends. Coincidentally for day 15, that includes a fight with Sauron.

Day 16 starts with this absolute unit who made Steve's cool books thread. It also wraps up the Sentinel story arc while introducing Master Mold.

#116 is an issue that, for some reason, took me a while to find a decent copy of. The black cover is one part of it but I just saw junk after junk any time I looked around. As far as the story goes, the X-Men wrap up an adventure in the Savage Land.

#216, Storm (as expected) wins The Most Dangerous Game with Wolverine along for moral support.

She does it again in this newsstand copy

#316, 90s holofoil! This is the first part of the Phalanx Covenant storyline that leads into Generation Next being formed. It has the first appearance of Monet St. Croix, also called M, and has a screen with the name of a few other future young mutants (Skin, Synch, and fan-favorite Blink).

#416 is the first of a few issues in a more anime style by Kia Asamiya. Also, Juggernaut bonds with Squid-boy while demolishing his old house.

#516. I do appreciate a badass Magneto cover. Magneto has something of a crisis of faith while the U-Men send a load of Predator Xs to attack the X-Men.

4th series #16, Legacy #616. Like it says on the cover, part of the Inhumans vs X-Men story. The Inhumans felt pushed into a corner so they released the Terrigen Mists into the atmosphere. Unfortunately, it turns out that the mists are fatal to mutants. The X-Men start to strike back by trying to take out Karnak.

Loving this thread!

Really a trip down memory lane.

We might need to do an Avengers one...

@Jabberwookie Glad you're enjoying it! Alas, I do not also have a near-complete Avengers run. I bet someone on the boards does though.

Day 17 starts with a copy that needs to be upgraded. The X-Men, recovering from their battle with the Sentinels, are attacked by a mystery intruder. It's revealed at the end to be Magneto, who is convinced he defeated the X-Men because he.... knocked them out and put them in a hot air balloon headed for the upper atmosphere. It was a simpler time.

#117 is the first appearance of Amahl Farouk, the Shadow King. If anyone happened to watch Legion on FX I think the actor who portrayed Farouk did a great job.

#217, Dazzler gets so hung up on proving herself that she knocks herself out trying to fight the Juggernaut (who apparently is a big fan of her music and doesn't even try to fight). A pretty unimportant issue but I kinda like the cover. Good job, Walt Simonson.

You know Dazzler worked really hard because she's doing it again on this newsstand copy.

#317, the battle with the Phalanx continues after a shift over to the X-Men series. This is the first appearance proper for Skin and Blink. Cannonball's sister, Paige, also joins the unnamed Generation Next team in this issue but her first appearance was apparently in a ROM annual.

#517, with a very Land Emma Frost on the cover. The team takes out the Predator X group and turns to Scalphunter to find out who sent them.
