| 5th series #11, Legacy #630. While the Age of X-Man stuff happens in a bunch of other mini-series, the Uncanny title thankfully carried on with those 'left behind'. I say thankfully because none of the mini-series did much for me, basically rehashing a few previous X-Men crossovers with your usual "it's a utopia where people can't ____" with the blank here being love/touch each other. That said, the rest of this arc was kind of disappointing as well. But at this early stage it seemed promising, and this issue is extra-large because it has three stories in it. Cyclops tries to find out what happened to the X-Men and finds a few mutants who are still around. One of them, former student Blindfold, kills herself. He puts out a public call for mutants to join him, which goes south when the Reavers, Purifiers, and Sapiens League shows up instead. Fortunately Wolverine also joins in and they take everybody out. In his story, Wolverine is also back from the dead and doing his own investigating. He comes across Blindfold but she asks him to leave. In the last story we see things from Blindfold's perspective. Her power to see the future has been acting more oddly than usual since the X-Men disappeared, and she keeps seeing visions of her own death in different ways. She puts things in place to make sure that Cyclops, Multiple Man, and Wolverine cross paths and then kills herself.  |

Day 31 is starting a little late, and to go with it a little first appearance: Angel's sometimes-girlfriend Candy Southern. And the Cobalt Man, of course, who almost becomes a super-villain due to a concussion. Later it looks like he becomes a legit super-villain. |

#131 has Jean, Cyclops, Dazzler, and Nightcralwer rescue Kitty then go into the Hellfire Club to rescue the rest of the team. Jean is showing off with her powers all over the place, including in a psychic battle with the newly-revealed White Queen. The X-Men escape and take Kitty back home, where Jean uses her powers to calm her parents and convince them to let Kitty join the school. Everyone starts giving Jean the side-eye. |

#233 has a sad Colossus get the go-ahead to check on his sister even though it will probably blow the X-Men's cover as being dead. Gateway sends him to Limbo where he helps Illyana fight some demons and save the other New Mutants. Illyana had been in the process of trying to summon her brother's spirit so it goes off without a hitch. and a newsstand. The miswrap unfortunately shows off the spine tics :-(  |

| #331 has a callback to when Emma was stuck in Iceman's head. He was recently shattered during a fight and is afraid to de-ice, so he goes to Emma to help him expand his powers. Emma uses the White Queen approach to teaching and taunts him into figuring it out. I think it's a little funny that the cover says it's Generation X's White Queen. Generation X had been running for a bit over a year at this point.  |

#431 continues with Nightcrawler finding out about the other demons in his family. Juggernaut and Northstar are still on their way to Canada to see Squidboy and have about as awkward a conversation as you would imagine the two would have. |

5th series #12, Legacy #631. Cyclops and Wolverine restart the X-Men by going to a ONE facility that's weaponizing mutants using the transmode virus. The body count in this series starts with Strong Guy, who doesn't survive the escape. They do gather up Mirage, Karma, Magik, Wolfsbane, and Havok though. |

| Day 32 starts with Iceman's birthday. Happy birthday Bobby! Jean and Scott dance together but still haven't told each other how they feel. The party is broken up when a biker gang shows up to terrorize the patrons. Did I mention they're at a coffee shop? Who has a birthday party at a coffee shop? Why would bikers decide to hassle a coffee shop? Anyway, it's also revealed that Prof. X has been keeping Juggernaut in a coma in the basement since their last fight. Has it been mentioned that Xavier is kind of an ass? The machine that Xavier builds to try to take the Cyttorak out of Juggy explodes, waking Juggernaut and giving him Xavier's mental powers while the Professor is knocked out. The Juggernaut takes the team out then leaves when Factor Three contacts him.  |

#132 is perhaps the turning point in the Phoenix saga as Mastermind finally turns Jean Grey. She comes the Black Queen of the Hellfire Club and takes out Cyclops while the other Inner Circle members take out Colossus, Storm, Wolverine, and Nightcrawler. Wolverine is semi-famously sunk through the floor by Leland and thought dead. Instead he's in the sewers and pretty pissed. This issue is also the first appearance of Tessa, who later joins the X-Men as Sage. |

#232 was just in last week's cover contest, I believe. A Brood infestation has taken over a bunch of mutants in a Colorado town. The X-Men find out somehow and go to check it out, finding that they're in for tough sledding. On the drama front, Madelyne Pryor sees a TV show with Cyclops together with (she thought dead) Jean Grey. Awkward! |

#332 has the X-Men trying to find Wolverine. The previous story for him was Wolverine 100 where he rejects being rebonded with adamantium and goes feral (aka noseless). They track him to a temple where they find Ozymandias in his ridiculously valuable first appearance. He throws Cyclops down a hole and then is ready to toss Wolverine after him when the issue ends. |

#432 confirms for the characters (already obvious to readers) that Azazel and Mystique are Nightcrawler's parents. In Canada, Juggernaut finds that Squidboy's dad has been hurting him and responds in Juggy fashion. Some of Alpha Flight shows up then ready to grab Juggernaut but surprised to see Northstar. |

5th series #13, Legacy #632. Cyclops decides that now, with the majority of the X-Men missing and mutants being pretty uniformly hated, is the time to show the world what the X-Men can do. They put together a hit list and start by finding Dark Beast, who has been experimenting on some Multiple Man dupes. After getting Jamie on the squad and capturing Dark Beast they see that a reformed Mutant Liberation Front is on TV, including the mostly dead Banshee and Hope. |

#33 solves the problem of the Juggernaut with... magic! The team discovers that Juggernaut's powers come from the Ruby of Cyttorak with some help from Dr. Strange and use it to trap him. I do like these old Juggy covers. |

#133 continues the first appearance party with a cameo by one Senator Kelly. But more notably it has Wolverine go ham on some Hellfire goons. In a less impressive showing, Cyclops uses his new psychic rapport with Jean to try to snap her out of the Black Queen stuff, but Mastermind defeats him in a swordfight. |

5th series #14, Legacy #633. The X-Men track down former MLF member Reaper but find out that he doesn't have his powers and isn't in the MLF anymore. They do track down former Marauder Scrambler though, which leads them to the Morlocks. Chamber is with them and tells Cyclops that it's time to start making good on previous promises. They go to made-up country Chernaya, take out some terrorists who were trying to take over the country, and give the land to the Morlocks to live. |

#134 has something of a first appearance as Jean goes full Dark Phoenix. She gets rid of Mastermind's control and frees Cyclops, who frees the team along with Wolverine, and they handle the Inner Circle this time. But Jean also drives Mastermind insane and, on their flight home, blows up the plane. |

#234 has an upper-tier cover for me as Wolverine's healing factor has to fend off a Brood infection. The team also takes out the rest of the mutant Brood and head home. Speaking of home, Madelyne Pryor has a dream with the demon S'ym in it and makes a fateful choice. Parallel with Jean's change in #134, Madelyne changes into the Goblin Queen. I got that one as part of my 9.8 list but this one I already had is actually pretty nice.  |
