WTB Amazing Spider-Man 316 MARK JEWELERS 9.812229

Collector NewsstandSpecific private msg quote post Address this user
Hi again! According to Worthpoint, two CGC copies have sold on eBay. One in April 2018 and the other in August 2019. I just went through roughly 2000 sets on the CGC registry and could not find these two books. Certification #’s:

1209129007

2045332013

If you have one, I can either replace it with a 9.8 Newsstand (or Direct) and pay cash on top of that OR just pay $1500. Please contact me if you have one. Thanks

Are you sure there was a Mark Jewelers Version of the book?

There's a slot for it on MCS, so I'm guessing that it must exist.

@BigRedOne1944 the two serial numbers that homeboy provided are for the insert copies.

I haven’t checked this post in a few days. I found the seller of the -2013 copy. They gave me the buyers name but he wouldn’t sell it. I tried my best. I found the ebay seller (jbond609) of the -9007 copy. I’ve messaged them close to 10 times now since Friday. No response. I know the messaging is obnoxious at this point and they’re probably just ignoring me. I see it both ways though in terms of my point of view and the seller’s. I feel like I’m making a solid offer and it’s coming from a genuine place. I’m still out of work and at this point I’ve put way too much time trying to track these books down. They don’t owe me a response by any means but it would be nice to have one so that I can move on from the search. But if they don’t respond and haven’t blocked me yet, how do I know if they’re receiving my messages? A simple no would suffice. BUT there’s always that slight chance that they haven’t checked their ebay in awhile and now they have a million messages from a crazy person about a book they sold two years ago...

Adding to all of this, I’ve also offered $ for the name or to have the seller pass the offer along. Still no response

As someone who’s searched for a scarce book or two over the years, may I make a suggestion?

Add this book to your saved searches on e-bay. Periodically check the major dealer sites, and simply make acquiring this book a long term pet project.

Eventually, you’ll find a nice raw copy you can grade and keep as a place-holder. Hey, maybe you’ll find a nicer one later & upgrade. But if you’re patient, you’ll track down a 9.8.

Don’t let the search for this one book distract you too much.

I’ve searched for a 9.4+ copy of a 1st print Dell “Creature” book for years. Literally years. I’ll get one. It’ll happen. Best I’ve got is an 8.5. It’ll be sweet once I get a NM copy, though.

Happy hunting!

I appreciate the advice! My impatience has cost me a pretty penny over the years

I recently sold my 9.6/9.8 Marvel Copper newsstand collection. Close to 150 books. I’m a bit of a minimalist at heart and now I want to concentrate on quality over quantity. I want to own maybe 10 books total but I want them all to count. So far I have NM 98, UXM 256, UXM 266, and Hulk 340. All 9.8 MJ’s. We’ll see what happens next

@NewsstandSpecific I work at an Air Force base, and the store near here gets in Mark Jeweler copies on a fairly regular basis. Last big key I remember was a NM98 MJ copy. It was NM (not 9.8, probably 9.4). I'll keep an eye out for the book.
