I'd like to say I still turned out alright, but that would be a lie. flanders private msg quote post Address this user
I'm interested in purchasing a policy through collectinsure.com and was wondering if when shipping an item I sell do I still have to purchase additional insurance through USPS, Fedex, etc. or is it unnecessary if I have collectibles insurance? Thanks!

Just checking into insurance. I asked the broker about that, he told me as long as the book is shipped with signature upon delivery they would cover it. I checked into insurance for 200,000 and it was 805 a year. It seems like a good deal, especially being able to cover shipping books to Cbcs, Cgc and even eBay and to private parties.

It's like the Roach Motel for comic collectors. chester15 private msg quote post Address this user
I have a more conservative shipping coverage on mine, 10% of my total contents coverage of $30,000, so only $3,000. But that works well for my needs. I also have a $200 deductible to be aware of, so that part I insure with general postal coverage.

When I ship by USPS, there is $100 provided with Priority Mail. I use Pirate Ship as my commercial postage provider, and insurance through them is only 80 cents per $100. To keep things simple, I just pay the $1.60 to get $200 coverage, so I am covered for the entire value by the combination of Pirate Ship and C.I.S.

My policy makes no distinction as to what shipping carrier - USPS, FedEx, UPS, etc. It just says, "while being mailed or shipped to or by you". The shipment has to have Signature Confirmation to be covered for the $3,000 limit. Otherwise, covered for $400 only (with a $200 deductible = $200).

Deductible: $200 Any One Occurrence
Policy Limit of Insurance: $30,000
Away From Premises And Personally Unaccompanied Travel Sublimit $0 Any One Occurrence
Shipping Sublimit – Signature Required $3,000 Any One Occurrence
Shipping Sublimit – No Signature $400 Any One Occurrence
Earthquake Sublimit $30,000 Any One Occurrence
