Does anybody know why CGC charged only $5 for the grader notes on a X-men #49 but then when I wanted the notes on a X-men #94 I had to pay $10.

I'm not sure the grader notes will be that valuable. I just had a few books graded and a 9.4 and 2qty 9.6 books were graded with zero notes.

CBCS, on the other hand gives notes from my past experience on items 9.6 and below.

Maybe I expected too much from CGC?

@Jesse_O lol!

@Kenjisan1967 not trying to be difficult or confrontational but have you tried asking CGC this? It'd be interesting to know...

They charge different rates for books based on the tier and the vaule of the book submitted, I believe.

The notes on an Action 1 would be more than the notes on a New Mutants 98.

The graders at CGC are not required to make notes. They consider themselves graders, not reporters, I guess. If they don't make notes, there is nothing to reference.

If they DO make notes, and it is YOUR comic they are grading, and you have any membership higher than FREE, you can see the notes on your dashboard.

To see someone else's comic's notes, there is a charge. I'm not sure how they determine the price of that service, but it may involve a large wheel with different prices on it, and maybe some cotton candy.

If you are going to sub books to the other side of the street it makes sense to buy their into their membership program. You buy in at $150 and get $150 credit for grading so it is kind of dopey not to. Like a previous poster mentioned you also get the graders notes. I print mine out and tuck them into the slab bag.

They may choose to report notes or not and I suppose that is their prerogative. However, I wish their was an outline or guide as to why they will or wont make notes. I hate ambiguity

As it stands, I have 2 9.6 books I cant tell if they have 9.8 after press potential. Since I am an isolationist and dont know anyone to ask, my only option are to submit to be pre screened at CBCS, or have CGC press with no idea if it will help. Either way, it costs money for shipping.

I clearly would have been better off with CBCS in this instance.

@Bronte Thank you, I didn't see that under their Services & Fees page. They must have submitted it under the Standard tier, thinking it was going to grade at a 7.0 or higher instead of 5.0. After getting the book and looking at, it's obvious that they never pressed it, that's why I got the notes. With a little bit of TLC, I think I can get a nice bump.
