GAME: Census Highlander!11818

COLLECTOR dielinfinite private msg quote post Address this user
THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!

With the launch of CBCS’ new census I thought it’d be a new way to show off our collections. Let’s post pics of books in our collections that are the only copy of that book in the Census!

I’m at work right now so I can’ do a deep dive myself but here’s one!

Shi: Way of the Warrior #1 Boudoir Metal Edition

Here’s mine. It’s Wonder Woman 750 Artgerm Collectibles Virgin variant. It’s only an 8.0, but that was my bad because I didn’t check the back cover before I submitted it and it has some color breaking impacts.

I'm not sure I understand. Wouldn't the "only" copy suggest drek, or if its a hot book, odds are it won't stay the "only" copy in the census for long?

Or am I reading that wrong?

EDIT: I didn't account for the scarcer Golden & Atomic Age books, or rarities.

There's always that one person!!!

LOL

Just kidding @Siggy. The temptation was too hard to resist with a setup like that. But seriously, one man's drek is another man's treasure. That's the joy of our hobby, there is no wrong way to collect!!

Ka-Zar (1998) #19 and #20.

Not only are they only 9.8 issues on the census, they're the "ONLY" Ka-Zar #19 and #20 on the census!

I can't help it, I can't curb my enthusiasm. Here are two sets of Highest graded:

For WildC.A.T.S: Covert Action Teams #1, here is the Single Highest Graded Gold plus the ONLY 9.9 (and Highest Graded) direct editions.

On the VSP/ASP, there is another 9.4, BUT, it is Restored. So, this is the Single Highest UnRestored Signed by Dave Cockrum in Census!

I was thinking the same thing.

I have one: Avengers 17 signed by Stan Lee at 3.5.

My guess is not many would take a book I’m such crappy condition AND get Stan to sign it.

I’ll wear it as a badge of honor!

One thing about this new census that is already driving me crazy... Not being able to middle click a link and have it open in a new tab. Grrr.

Looks like I'm on top in the census with these as well and that's it.

I think this has changed a little from what Jon envisioned. So I will go with the flow. This is the highest graded of 9 copies on the CBCS Census.

Yeah, I had wanted to see examples of the ONLY example of a book in the census but I guess people are going with Only one of a certain grade or highest graded

None of my books are rare or awesome enough to be the lone comic or even the 'single highest'. I have a few ties.

I did send in the lowest graded JLA #4 in the census, so I've got that going for me, which is nice.

Ooops! I didn't realize that you were going for Only graded example. I totally got the Highlander / There can be only one reference. But then in my irrational exuberance, I read HIGH into Highlander and errantly thought you were making a double entendre...My bad as you clearly spelled it out but i clearly didn't read your spelling. So, in that light....

ONLY Graded Example of -

It wasn't my intent to ruffle feathers, and I wasn't specifying any one person's book. And I did say "drek" OR "hot book"

The way I read it, it just seems like a person's post could be "disqualified" 30 seconds after it's posted if another book pops up on the census. A viewer sees the post, checks the census, sees 2 books, and wonders what the "rules" are.

I was just looking for clarification if I was missing something.

@Siggy no worries. My feathers weren't too ruffled, but I couldn't resist the urge to make a Highlander comment!! But as far as drek or hot books goes, I'm sure you've already seen examples of books posted here that are neither. And once @earthshaker01 gets wind of this thread, I'm sure there will be more examples that most collectors would never consider drek or hot.

Edit, btw, I am a Highlander nerd!!! I LOVED the original movie and I enjoyed the sequels and the tv series.
