Allegiance Arts comics coming to Walmart11804

Back in August of 2018, I supported a comic on indiegogo. The main reason is because it involved Mitch Breitweiser whose art I really enjoy. The project (Red Rooster) was a huge success and Mitch, his wife Elizabeth (an artist herself), and several other artists started Allegiance Arts. Due to this, the project was delayed. But now, Allegiance is launching their comics through a deal with Walmart. This deal has been in the works for at least 6 months, probably closer to a year. Anyway, they will have a stand in many (if not every) Walmart. Here is a link to their website.

So, does this count as newsstand or direct?

@Studley_Dudley good question. I suppose it'd be a Walmart exclusive or direct.

Here is some Red Rooster art and a completed page.

@Jesse_O Thanks for the info - artwork looks great - the name not so much (Run! It's the Rooster!). Since you backed them and got the first issue, how would you rate it on story, characters, art, longevity, etc.?

That's actually the snag here. The indiegogo book is a graphic novel containing the first three comics of Red Rooster. It has not been completed or sent out yet. I actually signed up for the comic and the artist's sketch book. The projected date of the project was actually March of 2019. I don't recall what the original goal was, but it had reached the first stretch goal of $60k in 2 days. It ended up at $163,515 and they now have almost $200k. But they rolled that money into starting Allegiance Arts. Of course, several contributors were pissed and got refunds, but I'm staying in for the long haul.

Here is a link to a Comics Now review of Red Rooster #1.

Here are pictures of Mitch and his wife Elizabeth with the display. This is a mock up. The display is supposed to be in the entertainment (or book) section of Walmarts on the 5th.

Edit - entertainment section mentioned on Facebook, book section mentioned on the Allegiance website.

I figured as long as I'm plugging this, I may as well do it right. Here are all four titles.

Hey there @Jesse_O looking at picture you posted and AAE website, it will probably be easier for most to order from www.Walmart.com - From AAE site- The adventure begins May 5 at U.S. Walmarts and on Walmart.com. Look for the red Allegiance Arts & Entertainment display in the book department.

Currently no listing for Red Rooster or AAE items - will check again Sun/Mon - thanks for info ^_~

I miss the occasional western comic and also enjoy titles based on real life characters, so will certainly check out Bass Reeves. Norah's Saga sounds interesting as well.

@Cool_Fool yeah, I'm probably going to have to order from Walmart if I want any copies. Thanks for quoting the AA page. I was going off the info I found on Facebook about finding it in the entertainment section (which honestly, I'm not sure where that would be in a Walmart). But I edited that post to read book or entertainment section (now the book section I can find easy peasy). Maybe someone will comment on the 5th as to the right area. As for online, I doubt we'll see anything before the 5th.

@EbaySeller I have been Facebook friends with Mitch for years. He and Elizabeth make a very cute couple. They seem to be very much in love and supportive of each others artwork. I'm pretty sure that Elizabeth does the art for one of the other titles, but I'm not sure which one.

@Jesse_O When I lived in Texas briefly I had a much older co-worker/friend. Whenever he would meet someones wife for the first time he would look at the guy with a surprised look on his face and say "This is your wife? Well hell...you over-married!"

Backed Red Rooster on Indiegogo awhile back when it first launched for backing. Can't wait to receive that and grab the new Allegiance comic books from WalMart when they launch here shortly.

The pitfalls of being the little tiny insignificant supplier in a relationship with a giant are endless. I once worked for a company in this situation...it put us out of business.

@GanaSoth - Great you got them. Hair dryer? You still doing the Saturday Night Fever style?!?
Good to see them listening to customers and working towards a solution on several situations. Since they are putting the barcodes on the back and there it lists the price. Maybe their display should have the price on it. And for shipping, maybe they go with top and bottom boards. I read two and looking forward to more in the series.

Haha. Naw, it's my wife's hair dryer.
The display does have the price on it, that's why I don't understand the reason behind the stickers.

Here's a pic of the display I found. Top right corner has the price.
