Just because it doesn't pass doesn't mean it's not legit. This did not pass either, had them since the early 80's so I know it was not fake. The Burt Ward didn't pass either, but I paid him and personal witnessed him signing.

Sorry, I have seen one or two of the Percy Jackson films and San Andreas, but she looked different with her clothes on. I guess I should have watched the Baywatch movie?

Agreed same with a Stan Lee I got signed in person. I don’t take to much stock in verified signatures. But that is a nice piece and I also have Burt wards autograph I got in person and Adam west.

Unfortunately, it's apparent that the Dynamic Forces signed Jack Kirby books from the early 1990's - Marvel Milestone Edition X-Men #1, Marvel Milestone Edition Fantastic Four #1, and X-Men #304 - are all not really his.

CBCS has never verified the Kirby DF books because they don't look like Jack Kirby's sig - they look like Roz Kirby's proxy sig.

That's the bad news. The good news is that your book is still awesome. Despite them being not really signed by Jack, those three Dynamic Forces books still have a lot of collector recognition and still hold their value. And because Jack rarely ever signed covers, the DF books just look striking. I have one in my collection and I still love it, even though it's not Jack's real sig.

So submitting on a Friday might have been a mistake, they came back within an hour and stated the Alexandra Daddario was not likely to pass. I canceled the transaction to purchase it.

They also stated both of my Last of the Viking books were unlikely to pass. I had guessed they might be Rosiland signatures instead of his so no big surprise although I hoped even one of them might clear the hurdle.

They left the big hitter, the incredible hulk signature hanging to await the results, meaning what...I dont know, except they did not eliminate nor endorse the signature yet

I try to think like this...bought the book in the mid eighties and now its worth about 30 times what I paid for it that day.
The signature was in it, when I got it....mid eighties while Kirby was alive, and noone even cared much about signed books. I paid nothing extra for the signature …

In my mind even if they are unable to verify it, I am fairly sure its his signature. It would be easier and more assuring knowing.....I also think it offers hope that they did not dismiss it out of hand as they did the others, instead taking more time and apparently effort to determine

I might need to copy your idea. Given the seemingly ease of obtaining your results, I might try submitting a Harry Potter script for verification. I have the whole cast signed for the sorcerer's stone, but I have doubts on legitimacy given the signatures look kinda different from google search. However, for the money I figure maybe see if alan rickman's is real and go from there.

I cant find the link to the preliminary autograph on their website. Is this something you have to contact them special for?

Edit.

Nevermind. I found it

I couldn't find the script, but I have a set of Harry Potter books with (possibly) Rowling's signature.

Just submitted for 1st book. Now I gotta do the wait too.

@Darkseid_of_town Thanks for the idea.

annnnnnnnnddddddddddddddddd we finally have a decision....according to BAS the Hulk 1 signed on the first page...……...

Jack Kirby
Likely to Pass Full Authentication

So my results were 1 in four passed..the Daddario signature I canceled the transaction which the seller was agreeable to in light of its failure to pass.

Both of the Last Viking books would have been signed later in Kirbys career and did not pass...either are not his signature or more likely Rosilands.

(I would entertain offers on either if anyone has the deeply held desire to own a Kirby/Rosiland likely proxy signature or feels on subsequent testing the signature might pass)

The Hulk book is what I expected/hoped for/believed would happen. I kept my hopes in check, but yeah it does feel good knowing that the experts feel its legit as well

You win some, you lose some.
This was just a side thing I happened to have laying around. Fortunately my primary collectibles are comics and I have a decent amount of faith that the graded books are legitimate.

I wasa bit surprised at having 3/4 fail myself....seems a tough rode to get one through.

one thing I enjoy about my Jewel (the singer) collection...I have ordered or bought many of my signed things directly from her and hard to believe its not going to be legit based on that alone

While it's great to have something verified, I know for myself, my signature changes all the time. I have my first social security card and the difference between that and my drivers license you would swear were from different people.

I have genuine concerns that my mail in voting ballot will not match my current signature. It's not that I consciously choose to sign different, but if I'm stressed or not sitting down, things literally take a different stroke.

Knowing the providence of a signature helps and I think that since you know your source it makes your case that much stronger.

Dont get me wrong, I'm not saying that signature verification is a crock, it's far from it. I would definitely like to have a second opinion that verifies my belief. What I am saying is that it is impossible to be literally 100% accurate.

You called it pretty accurately there...with both the Vikings books failing and the Hulk 1 highly likely to receive full verification.

That's why signature verification companies are so concerned about explaining that a failed verification is NOT an indication of a forgery. But for some reason, people tend to take a failed verification to the extreme thought that the signature is fake. The verifiers can reliably say that the signatures that pass are legitimate. Signature verification techniques are used and accepted by the courts and the government, but collectors are a whole different breed.

When money is involved, people's attitude changes immensely. Question a person's integrity and involve money and you get a crazy rabid comic collector.
