I was digging through my old magazines and found this price guide in a Wizard magazine from 2008.

Very interesting. When I owned a LCS on Long Island, NY in the early nineties, I remember putting New Mutant 87 and 98's in gift bags for my son's birthday party! Who knew Liefield drek would have value!

Ah, I do remember Wizard. I don't think I have any left. Before I dropped them off in the recycling bin, I went through a few. There were times when that magazine was on point and funny. Hindsight being 20/20, it may have contributed to the speculator/profiteer phase in the 90s, but they were correct about Walking Dead #1. I can't remember the year, maybe 2005, but it was one of those 'look in the back issue bins for this' pieces.

I might have it. I’ll be digging through these over the next few weeks and share more pictures.

I thought I’d gotten rid of my Wizard magazines, too, but I’ve found about 50 of them.

Steve, the store was on Broadway in Bethpage, NY called Jaybee Comics and Cards. And if you remember a price guide named "Comic Collectors Price Guide" I was its monthly price consultant and did its "Whats Hot" articles every month. Competed with the Wizard.

Still finding some good stuff in these old Wizards.

Everyone’s favorite grader makes an appearance!

Steve- was this the first book you ever graded?

@Jabberwookie I had graded thousands & thousands books by that point in time, but that was the 1st book I ever graded for certification.

I knew I recognized you from back in the day Steve. I dug up this old copy of Comic Book Collector where the "What's Hot" list monthly. A valiant effort to compete with Wizard.

@GAC

Yeah, I’ll throw another picture on here soon.

They had a book from 1911.

It’s been a nice time travel trip while cooped up.

To answer your question, no, this is not where the comics go to die. MutantMania private msg quote post Address this user
I loved the old Wizard Magazine / Price Guide. I think I have every one of them somewhere in my storage. I used to buy two copies so I had one to keep sealed and collect and the other I opened to read.
