Opinions on Gaiman Signature11689

COLLECTOR dielinfinite private msg quote post Address this user
I wanted to get people’s opinions on this Neil Gaiman signature. I know his sig can vary significantly however I haven’t seen one quite like this one on a book I’m looking at.

has anyone seen one similar to this?

The funny thing is it includes the remark “Sweet Dreams” and that one does look similar to other remarks he’s done so I’m in this strange place where I’m fairly confident the remark is genuine but the signature itself is throwing me off.

Also, why would someone add a personalization on a fake?

Looks legit. I have tons for reference and a couple do look like this.

Also, the sweet dreams remark is spot on. Like you say, it wouldn’t have a remark without a signature.

If you look at the attached, the sweet dreams line is Neil, as well as the bottom signature.

Whoops. First photo didn’t load. Here is the remark portion (all of these passed verification).

Awesome! That puts my mind at ease. I’ll go ahead and go for it.

Thank you!

Here’s the sig I have. Little different, but the general letter shape is pretty similar. Looks like the book was signed more slowly than the comic. Probably weren’t 200 people waiting

Yeah the one I have bears a general resemblance to the 2 you guys have shown but different enough that I wasn’t sure

That being said, I have had Gaiman sigs fail VSP that looked EXACTLY like others that have passed muster. No clue what criteria ruled it out. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Remark is a drawing; what the “sweet dreams” is, is an inscription, i believe

A remark is an inscription. A drawing is a sketch.

I believe this is the proper definition and proper spelling -

Edit - rewrote because it came across as arrogant.

That IS the correct definition and spelling of the word remarque, which may have been what cyrano0521 originally meant. Remark, on the other hand, is a different word entirely.

I was always told that "remark" is spoken, "remarque" is written.

Your first post was correct. A remark can be verbal or written. A remarque is something much more specific that applies to printing/engraving.
