@bige31 according to that link, the disaster declaration is extended to May 20th, but the stay at home order is only extended to April 30th.

@Jesse_O thank you for the clarification. I was more speaking about the non essential businesses being closed During that time of the disaster declaration. Or did I read that wring?

@Jesse_O ok that’s what I thought. Sometimes I have a bad skimming read habit where I skip the important parts lol. I know the numbers keep rising in Dallas so they are trying to be the leaders in the area and stop the spread. Sorry @Darryl_H and @Jesse_O if this overtakes the thread about the Coronavirus. I was just asking if the order given by Dallas stilL impacted CBCS

Yeah. I believe this would directly impact CBCS operations. No worries about discussing this here.

Thanks. Tom.
Magazine slabs are going to be at least a year out.

The census is in the final phase of testing and should be up and running sometime within the next 6-8 weeks.

Will any effort be made to reconcile census differences between the two dominant grading houses?

For want of a better comparison I’ll refer to dueling censuses as a senseless family feud between the Moneyques and Encapsulets ...with full apology to the memory of Bill Shakespeare for the cheeky R&J reference pursuant to a plague on both my analogies.

Seriously, it would be nice if dealers and collectors could have some semblance of accuracy in plotting the depth of the market. Hey, I’m just a hopeless romantic when it comes to comics & I wanna see a happy ending here!

I would guess at LESS than a snowball’s chance in hell of any sort of reconciliation between the two companies. Heck, CGC doesn’t even remove mailed back tags, from their system...

Yeah, I’m aware of the inconsistencies in their census. There’s an ongoing discussion about this on their GA board right now. So far no one has been able to address those concerns to my satisfaction (after my last post on this topic you could hear crickets).

I suppose some folks will always embrace CGC census numbers as accurate in spite of the crack-out and press culture, assuming the old labels are sent back and entries changed even when there’s little evidence to support it.

Hope springs eternal that some sort of peaceful coexistence can be brokered between these two critical businesses for the long term vitality of the hobby.

Wow! With TAT's generally at a reasonable level, once magazine size slabs come out later this year, and a census actually finally gets up and running; what will the CBCS haters complain about now? I'm sure they'll think of something.

Cat- When we 1st opened CBCS, we wanted to do the right thing for the community. I called Matt Nelson and we started sending CGC labels back to them and Matt sent CBCS labels back to us. CGC stopped sending them back to us. I had a few friends call CGC and ask if they were sending back labels. The answer they got was "We throw them out.". So we stopped sending CGC labels to take off their census. We still have our re-submitted labels so that we can try to keep the CBCS census as correct as possible. CGC just does not care at this point in time....

Yes please don't forget guys at one point regular submissions were at 25-30 weeks, and now they are 5 weeks or less.

Now its pressings turn :-)

I can state this is 100% accurate with every submission I have made lately (w/o pressing) and I have to say I am so happy for this. You guys have done a great job with TATs for non-pressed books. Thank you so much!

So the CGC census isn’t really all that accurate then.
Close but no cigar in other words

Then the question arises
When you reslab or regrade a Previously slabbed & graded CGC book will you enter it into the CBCS Census.

And

What if you add a signature to a already slabbed CBCS book and yellow or red label it
Will the CBCS Census be adjusted. In other will the blue label be removed and the red or yellow replace it.

And then what about adding a signature to a
Blue label CGC book turning it into a yellow or red label CBCS Slab.

Sorry to complicate this but The wheels are
turning

I guess without the cooperation of the other companies the census will only ever be just a approximation

Well I guess it’s better than nothing.

Any thoughts to label revisions? Including characters or such on the label similar to CGC? There is a demand out there for DC labels (Batman and Harley for sure) and even more Marvel labels than what is offered now. Could be completely optional as they aren't for everyone but as a casual collector, I do like the character labels.

I just had a quick question about the office in Clearwater, FL. With pressing moving out of FL is that office going to remain open. Also...I guess I don't actually know it's still there, I've been dropping off at cons for the past two years, but was thinking about dropping off at that location since the VSP is extended...

@billkruser5 There aren't currently any plans for changing labels or introducing character labels.

@etapi65 Yes, the Clearwater office will be shutting down. I don't know the exact date on when or if they have already.

Every time a book is graded or regraded, it gets a new serial number as it is part of a new invoice. The cgc census has been jacked for years.
