CBCS questions? Concerns?11609

Collector Darryl_H private msg quote post Address this user
With the COVID-19 and everything connected going on, I figured this could be a great time to start a discussion with you guys and see if you had any questions, and or concerns about CBCS? All I ask is to keep it civil and remember this is out of everyone's control.

I have been trying to answer all the ones that have been asked, but know I have had to miss a couple.

To start:
1. Pursuant to Code 418.108, issued by the County of Dallas, Beckett and CBCS will be closed until at least April 3, 2020. As of this time, I believe this has been extended, and we do not have an exact date we will return to full operations.

2. We are asking you guys to hold off on submitting during this time but are working to make sure any packages get accepted and are not returned.

3. If you had an order go to shipping, and haven't received it, or gotten a tracking number, then most likely this invoice did not ship before the shutdown. The staff in Dallas worked up until the deadline to get as much as we could shipped to you guys, but it was impossible to get everything out.

I had several questions about the CBCS private signings announced yesterday.

These are official CBCS signings, set up with CBCS and the talent.
Once we receive them, your Books are always in CBCS custody.

Shipping Will resume when Dallas County allows us to go back to full operations. As of now, we are not sure when that date will be, but once we know we will let you guys know right away!

I hope that regardless of what Dallas County says, CBCS monitors the rest of the US and the advice of the CDC and other disease leadership. There's no reason to risk the safety of CBCS employees by getting everyone back together earlier than needed.

@Darryl_H - My Bronze Membership always expires around my birthday, so my Dashboard shows I am just a "regular" member. So I guess there is no freeze on Memberships, even though there is a freeze on services. Are we expected to renew now, or should we wait until operations resume? In other words, how does it benefit me to renew right now, when I can't submit comics? If I wait until services are back, I won't have to renew as soon next year, correct?

@xkonk Dallas extended the shelter in place till May 20th. I will say Dallas has been on the forefront here in Texas when the rest of the state leaders are not.

If you’ve seen the CGC announcement about them considering themselves “essential” under how the FL governor defined things, are you guys going to try and worm your way back into full activity?

No, we're actually going to take the health & safety of our employees into account AND obey the law.

Is there any good news on magazine grading & slabbing. This might be a great time to iron this out. I’m sure you’re slab manufacture or supplier is looking for something to do from home also.

Is anyone working from home on the long hoped for census. This might be a great opportunity to get this accomplished.

Thanks. Tom.

Magazine slabs are going to be at least a year out.

The census is in the final phase of testing and should be up and running sometime within the next 6-8 weeks.

🙀😾 on the magazine slabs that record has been skipping for quite a awhile. Please give the arm a nudge so the music plays and that song will be over. Lol. 😂 🖖

Thanks for the reply. See you again on the flip side.

I had some raw graded books I submitted but either they were not picked up or weren’t ready before the craziness.

I’m not in any hurry-especially in relation to everyone’s health and safety at CBCS.

Having said that, is there any possibility you could tell me what the grades are?

I haven’t seen anything on my dash.

If not, that’s ok, but I thought I’d ask.

@bige31 according to that link, the disaster declaration is extended to May 20th, but the stay at home order is only extended to April 30th.

@Jesse_O thank you for the clarification. I was more speaking about the non essential businesses being closed During that time of the disaster declaration. Or did I read that wring?

@Jesse_O ok that’s what I thought. Sometimes I have a bad skimming read habit where I skip the important parts lol. I know the numbers keep rising in Dallas so they are trying to be the leaders in the area and stop the spread. Sorry @Darryl_H and @Jesse_O if this overtakes the thread about the Coronavirus. I was just asking if the order given by Dallas stilL impacted CBCS

Yeah. I believe this would directly impact CBCS operations. No worries about discussing this here.
