Last week I started watching 10-20 specific MCS auctions to see how they would hold up in the current circumstances. For the Auction ended March 16th I saw very little difference from previous selling prices. For the Auction ended March 23 the items I watched were down 20%-40% from previous MCS sales prices for the same grade. The pattern seemed too consistent to attribute to variables other than economic concerns. What are you all seeing in general?

Facebook sales are WAAY down, too. Quantity and quality. I think green labels for other than unwitnessed signatures are going to take HUUUUUGE hits. Also, high print run “keys” will also nosedive.

I was hoping for the last couple weeks that everything I was seeing was just my own observations without any real data. However, I see many posting the same observations. Many. Not any saying "I got more than FMV". As these observations are increasing with the same message, I'm inclined to believe this is truly the case. Oh well. They'll go back up in......... I dunno........ 10 years |

Let's remember that everything we are seeing right now economically is a choice, not based fundamental weakness as in 2008. It is a choice to turn it off in the interest of health and there will be a decision to turn it back on. |

Next week may be better - Today the stock market had biggest rally since 1933. Surge due to stimulus hopes. |

I followed 2 comics over the last 2 days. Both went for fmv. You still have to factor in shipping and taxes. When I include those into the final price, they have been right at fmv or a little below.

Probably time to hold not sell. I would point out that all of these comics are fairly common issues and/ or in fairly common grades. Quality books in top shape will hold their value. The rest is probably overpriced anyway and stuff like that is the first to fall when buyers start to tighten their belts.

Pretty much, I could have waited a couple weeks but I’m not certain I would have spent it then. I’m not certain I will the rest of the year so I’m pretty excited.

Hi all - hope everyone is staying both safe and sane! From what I'm seeing, I agree with @EbaySeller, overall prices are a bit down. In general though, I would agree with @michaelekrupp - the quality stuff seems to be holding its own. We shouldn't factor in shipping or taxes for many reasons, among them a) not a single price guide I am aware of does that, and b) shipping charged on two recent sales has no bearing on previous sales - you don't know what shipping may have been for those, it could have been more. Also, you can't point to any single sale and draw conclusions - you need a decent sample size. We definitely see books like Ms. Marvel #1 plummeting, ouch! : But for a bellwether like Hulk #181? Hard to say right now. If anyone wants to see another book give a shout. |

@TommyJasmin Thanks for the info. I would love to see any info on "2nd tier" books like DC presents 26, cap 117, marvel spotlight 28 or Iron Fist 14. I think that might be where the story is best told.

I thought about something a week ago and I think it's kind of dawning on everyone...not all movie and comic-related streaming production will restart. There will probably a consolidation of resources with delays or cancellations of some planned movies or shows. Some of the future screen events we were pricing in are in danger of not happening for years if at all. |

If the viagra is working you should be well over a 9.8. | xkonk private msg quote post Address this user
The few items I was watching in the MCS auction that ended Monday seemed to be about on pace according to gocollect and dreckecheck. There were a couple of Nova #1s (one graded, one not), a Marvel Spotlight 32, an Uncanny 266, a couple others.

I had no way of knowing that 9.8 graded copies signed by Adam Hughes weren't what you were looking for. | drchaos private msg quote post Address this user
With comic stores closing and people being stuck at home the ingredients for higher auction prices are there. If we have finally seen the bottom in the stock market, people will have money to spend.

Does anyone have insights on what the situation is with the Verified Signatures Market? McFarlane, Steranko, Kirby, Stan Lee etc?

I am definitely getting offers for comics I am watching or at one time looked at the listing. Most are overpriced to begin with. I wonder what the stimulus check will do to the market.

I can tell you personally I need a stimulus check to cover my last weeks purchases. I pretty much bought anything I wanted with the notion I may never be able to that again. Or at least for an extended period of time.
