CBCS Pressing SteveRicketts private msg quote post Address this user
Pressing update: We are currently finishing up December. They should all be in the grading room by the end of next week. At that point, pressing will put 2020 behind us!

@Drogio I submitted with the promo and was received in Oct. I have not received books yet. Status of my order is Grading/Labels. I do have some signature verification in my order so that will add some time to order.

don't think I'll send mine in quite yet and although there are no colour breaking ticks you can 100% tell which copy I read and which I didn't!! (just small bumps/crease by the staples from the cover being opened - that in a normal comic would 100% press out)

They pressed a serious corner spine ding out of my Spidey 2099 and it got a 9.8

THe only part of 2020 I haven’t put behind me is my taxes...and that procrastination actually benefited me as they based the last stimulus on my 2019 filing.

Have I told you about the time I dropped off 3,000 comics at SDCC? Scifinator private msg quote post Address this user
My end of Novemeber 14 comic combo Press w/2 VSP submission was updated a couple of days ago to "Grading", then almost instantly to "Labels". So, that puts it within the TAT for that time period when submitted and within the current stated TAT's. Cheers to you CBCS.

@SteveRicketts My books received Nov 9... still shows as “Received” and “Processing”. Still no update on being graded.

I’ve sent a couple of emails with no response.

Pressing forum or Newbie forum? I will try here.

The form for Canadian office submissions says:

Note: When submitting books for Pressing with non-pressing books, the turnaround time will revert to the Pressing turnaround time. If you would like your non-pressed books back sooner, they must be submitted on a separate invoice.

But CBCS website Pressing info says:

All CBCS submissions that require pressing have to be submitted on a separate invoice from grading submissions and sent to the CBCS Pressing office at 4635 McEwen Road, Dallas, TX 75244

Is it safe to assume that the note accompanying the submission form is accurate and, if I am comfortable with the wait, I can submit pressing and non-pressing books together on one form?

yup! I do it all the time...although lately to be safe even non-press books I add press screen to them....just in case there is some fixable defect that I missed!

Most of my books are not high value stuff so it doesn't always make sense to put that extra screening on them. For the most part, I just want to have my favorite books in a nice display case. On the other hand, higher grades look nicer I was wondering how often do you see them add the press into the screen on those sorts of books?

Every press screen I’ve done (not many) were pressed, My assumption is if pressing won’t hurt the book it’s pressed

My first time doing press screen and I'm hoping that both books I sent get pressed.

So, pardon my ignorance here but, if they usually get pressed and/or you hope they get pressed, why not just order the press and save the screen charge? I'm awaiting my first press order back so I am just trying to figure out how to best approach things.

If they don't, I can't get mad about it because that means they saw something that pressing wouldn't fix. I sent a book in for press my first submission and didn't exactly go my way. I'm trying the pressing screen for the first time because it goneither way.

So far I think I'm at less than 1 or 2 in 10 that I have a press screen on that then gets a press. I can usually spot if they need a press though so it's very rare that I put just a press screen on.
Covers my a$$ to just incase there is some sort of shipping damamge!

In the early days you couldn't send press and non press together but if I had say5 non-press books with books that needed pressing then the press screen was actually less than having shipping for a separate order!! like a win win for me..press screen to ensure highest grade and less return shipping! not an issue now though since you can mix books on an order
