nothing is done in Canada..all our books are sent to the Dallas office for pressing and grading, then sent back to Oakville and then back to us through FedEx or Canada Post.

Just wondering if pressing is still moving along or if it is all bunged up because of the weather down there. I have an order that was rec'd on Nov. 6th. Based on the last update, if things are moving along, it should be in pressing soonish?

Yes, pressing is still rolling along. Everything received in October has been pressed. November orders are starting to move into grading now and should all be there over the next few weeks.

The turnaround time in pressing is improving every week. For standard tier orders received today, you can expect about a 10 to 11 week turnaround.

It took a while to get over the mountain of backlog, but we are finally getting it under control. We are certainly going to keep working to make it even better than it is now.

@SteveRicketts received e-mail saying my books have moved into the pressing area...is this the start of the 10 to 11 week turnaround or does that start at another stage/step in the process?

@KatKomics Your orders were not re eived until early November. If they're not already in grading, they will be over the next week or two.

I have no idea what the specific internal email triggers are, nor what email gets sent when. I used to know, but they've been changed over the last year or so.

thanks! just get anxious when seeing others with the same/similar dates and same submission process and services being done with notifications and completions of orders but radio silence for my order.

This is all new to me as it is first set of orders I have sent. But based on notifications sent to me, it looks like my order waited to get pressed then went straight to grading. I never rec'd a notification that they actually entered pressing. Is that normal? Did they get pressed?

@Silverado did you pay for pressing or press grade? If pressing then yes. If screen then maybe.

@Silverado - Yes, it has been very typical to not see your comics in "Pressing". I have seen some of my order go from "Received" to "Shipping" without any notification of Press, Grading, Labels, Encapsulation, etc.

I opted for press screen just in case there aren't any press able defects.

Speaking of which, when do they screen books for pressing?? Is it when they arrive or later on?? Ty!

@Comicninja0215 they screen when they would normally hit the pressing room. You can think of the TAT as how long you have to wait for someone to put eyes on your comic.

just a quick question.

Can foil covers be pressed? i.e Venom or Spidey 2099?

don't think I'll send mine in quite yet and although there are no colour breaking ticks you can 100% tell which copy I read and which I didn't!! (just small bumps/crease by the staples from the cover being opened - that in a normal comic would 100% press out)

@KatKomics I have the same question about lenticular covers. Are those pressable or does the heat mess with whatever material they use to make the cover?

@KatKomics - Simple question, but convoluted answer that I will narrow down to: Maybe. Foils are a good Screen candidate. Foil Embossed are much more problematic. Overall, the presser is going to have to look at it to ascertain if they can help. Unfortunately my answer probably leaves more questions.

@Scifinator thanks for the link!!
I'm pretty sure some TLC for the 1 or 2 areas could be applied.....guess that's why I bought 2 of the foil covers for Spidey 2099 and Venom way back in the day.....since I only have cover price into them even 9.6's would show an ok profit...will have to get them graded at some point before Spidey 2099 makes another movie appearance so I can cash in on the inevitable spike!

Hello pressing enthusiasts.

Thanks for the replies to my earlier post.

Odd question: I have a Silver Surfer #3 (1968) that could definitely be improved with a press. However, it also has a staple that is folded on top of itself. My worry is that pressing will push that staple right through the cover (it has already made a little bump). Do you have any experience with odd situations like this? Is it worth a press screening or just order the press and trust they would reject it and refund if they can't help the book?

Thanks!

If the book can definitely be helped by a press without playing with a spine, personally I'd gamble and say press screen.

You might get a better more educated response though if you post a picture of the actual issue.

Submitted my books in at the end of October with the 12 week (Max) pressing TAT promotion. 12 weeks would have been January 21st. No updates whether they’ve completed pressing.

In two days it will be another 10 weeks after the latest they should have been
Pressed....so with a current TAT of 10 weeks on grading moderns...starting to wonder why my books have no progress. I should be in or completed grading by now.

Anyone else who submitted under the October pressing promotion get their books back yet?

@Drogio while I haven't gotten my books back they have moved though grading etc to 'ShipToCanada' which is it's own ordeal..likely 4 to 6 weeks before I actually get the books (been 2 weeks already)

I believe the 12 week press time was not a 'hard' 12 weeks and the response was greater than they thought so it took longer...that said..all October orders are done pressing (can't remember when but there was a message from I think Steve Ricketts to that effect)

@Drogio I know @esavaro posted that he got his back from that promotion. I have one in also, it's been in labels for a week or so.

Pressing update: We are currently finishing up December. They should all be in the grading room by the end of next week. At that point, pressing will put 2020 behind us!

@Drogio I submitted with the promo and was received in Oct. I have not received books yet. Status of my order is Grading/Labels. I do have some signature verification in my order so that will add some time to order.

They pressed a serious corner spine ding out of my Spidey 2099 and it got a 9.8

THe only part of 2020 I haven’t put behind me is my taxes...and that procrastination actually benefited me as they based the last stimulus on my 2019 filing.

My end of Novemeber 14 comic combo Press w/2 VSP submission was updated a couple of days ago to "Grading", then almost instantly to "Labels". So, that puts it within the TAT for that time period when submitted and within the current stated TAT's. Cheers to you CBCS.
