CBCS Pressing Update11521

@KatKomics On a related matter - I am hearing rumors that Canada Post will not distribute mails from abroad which require any taxes to be paid. You have to pick up yourself in customs after paying relevant taxes. Are you aware whether this is true or not?

@poka nahhh....Canada Post is pretty good. If there are taxes or duties or if you need to be over 18 to receive the item (marijuana/hash etc. is legal in Canada and you can have it delivered by mail!!) they just make you come to the local Canada Post outlet and pay or show ID or whatever..no big deal. Mail and duties is a hit and miss thing to boot! when coming over by car if you have say $200 or less you will almost never be pulled over to pay duties....mail I swear is a lottery! I've had no duties on well over $200 but also had to pay duties on like $75!!! I'm sure there is a method but if feels like it's just your luck if your package gets checked! |

@GAC I was told last week that my order was on the dock in Oakville (emailed customer service). I guess that although the Canada office is open for submissions the TAT is out the window. I believe Canada was supposed to be 2 weeks? slower than normal TATs but we are a month now in the Ship to Canada status. Seems like this new partner is keeping the books moving but we are not their primary concern and things aren't going to move as fast as they would have with actual CBCS staff running things. |

8 month backlog??? God almighty. There are lots of really good pressers out there. Why does CBCS continue to shoot itself in the foot trying to press stuff themselves? Are they ever going to be able to get on top the pile? Start a program to promote and collaborate with the best pressers out there. A 3rd-party presser registry that's integrated within the website submission framework. Have submissions automatically diverted to the pressers looking for work first, or those selected by the submitter. Have a reporting system where the pressers update the status of each book in their queue and enforce performance deadlines. Pay the pressers when the books are safely in hand at CBCS for grading. Require each presser to maintain standards as dictated by CBCS. They must be a properly licensed business, they must be able to demonstrate their proficiency and have numerous references/testimonials, they must be fully insured for loss coverage while in possession of the books, etc. All the vetting details could be figured out. Like many, I have a TON of comics that need to get graded, and many that require pressing first. I've gone through a few graders now, hit and miss. I'd rather not have to play that game myself. CBCS should do it, and just tell me where to send the books and don't charge me 5 times what a presser usually charges. I am not waiting 20-30 weeks for a press job, ever. I can't believe people actually do. |

Books your going to keep in your collect ya waiting is ok. If you churning your books for sale no. For books I’m churning I use all the fast services. Running 4 to 6 weeks. CBCS pressing is so superior compared to the competition. Quality trumps quantity. Pressers aren’t sitting at home waiting to be hired. Tough situation for the grading companies.

Looks like from past posts that May was done pressing in the middle of November and June was done at the beginning of December....is it safe to say pressing is moving through a month of books in about 2 or 3 weeks? So we could assume July done by middle of December...and allowing for Christmas breaks etc. August by early Jan with Sept by end of Jan and Oct by mid Feb etc. etc.?? about 2 months of back log every month to month and a half? |

If the viagra is working you should be well over a 9.8. | xkonk private msg quote post Address this user
@KatKomics The October pressing promotion promised 12 weeks; if you sent on October 30th, 12 weeks is December 23rd. So that might jam things up a bit. Or, we've been paying attention to the wrong Operation Warp Speed.

One would hope (especially if they had an order in before the promo) that would be the case. I was just trying to point out that there would be pressure one way or another, and at least some October books should be done well before February.

Probably a dumb question but when I had customer service add Fast Press to my existing invoice, did I get bumped to the back of the line? Or, how is an upgrade like this handled internally?

I know this might have been asked recently- but what is "fast press" running at these days- I just submitted a book for sig verification and fast press and utilized the "crystal Clear" promotion
