MARVEL: Eternals: The Heretic #1 (from what I see, this comic is a one shot book.) For those of us that still get current comics, WESTFIELD COMICS (Madison WI) monthly flyer noted the following notice on its monthly e-mail: "Due to Marvel changing to a more fragile cover stock on their books we cannot guarantee a specific condition on the copies we ship for the foreseeable future. Many, if not most or all, of the Marvels we have been receiving have mechanical printer damage. While we do go through all the books we receive from our distributors we are unable to get replacements for this type of damage!" |

Transformers: King Grimlock #1-5 mini series. Definitely takes inspiration from the G1 season three episode "Madman's Paradise" but really expands on that world and characters from it with some twists. Fairly good art and pacing in this series, unlike the main IDW TF series. I'm not positive what continuity this falls under. But a fun read if you're into mixing Transformers with fantasy. |

I read this series over a couple of days. I liked it. Kinda like Bizarro world Transformers. Autobots are bad, Decepticons are good. Personalities and color schemes are changed to reflect it. I believe the Shattered Glass line started with Fun Publications during the days of BotCon before Hasbro decided to shit on that show. I've seen some of the SG comics before but this might be IDW's first official work in that realm. I liked it and it ends on a cliffhanger. With IDW losing the license this year, I have no idea if it will be concluded. I had also bought some of the toys because they included the Hasbro Pulse exclusive variants. Some of the cooler toys were sold out before I knew that they existed with the variants. |

Been in the mood for some older Moon Knight/Punisher comics. I enjoyed when they teamed up these heroes. Let's hope it happens again soon. |

Last night I started on my pile of DC horror books again. More tend to get added vice me reading what's already there to clear room off the table. I should be done with my Ghosts stacks (again) and started on Witching Hour with #1. I'll try to get a few more done today but it's going to be a long day at the office after I get done with the VA, so we'll see. Anthology stuff, so the quality is always hit & miss but I will say that I have enjoyed the art style even if it gets a little heavy on the inks to help set the atmosphere. It is nice to not have to worry about following decades of continuity which is why I've been gravitating towards the anthology style lately. |

After staying roughly on schedule for 14 months, complications at work have thrown me way behind on my comic book reading. I didn’t finish the March 1984 issues until mid-April. Now it is almost May and I am only about a dozen issues into my April stack. We are going back to reducing our operating hours at work starting this week, so hopefully I will be able to get back into my reading groove. I read these two this morning (both decent) and I hope to do some more reading this afternoon. |

Wonder Woman Historia: Book One (Kelly Sue DeConnick and Phil Jimenez). I had this book in the "unread" pile for a few months, and I just received Book Two (Gene Ha is the artist in Book Two). Finally got to Boom One early this week.

First time reading this for me. I foresee myself giving up on the tpb volumes after this one and buying a nice bound omnibus maybe? |

Was in a Marvel groove last night. All of these comics were of great interest to me back when they were new. Spent today in an 80s Indie groove. Many of these are among the final offerings from Capital and Pacific. The fact that First and Eclipse continued so many of their titles after these publishers folded is a testament to their quality. It occurs to me that both Capital and Pacific were involved in publishing AND distribution of comics. I truly believe that proved to bd the undoing of both publishers. It sure wasn’t the quality of their offerings! |

Actually read these Sun and Mon but just got around to the pictures. I'll read more tonight. Probably looking for a good jump-off point on Doctor Aphra. I enjoyed the first two series quite a bit but Alyssa Wong's writing hasn't held my attention that well. I like where the main SW series and Bounty Hunters are going. You know what you're getting with the Witching Hour but they still entertain. |

From my last post: "WESTFIELD COMICS (Madison WI) monthly flyer noted the following notice on its monthly e-mail: "Due to Marvel changing to a more fragile cover stock on their books we cannot guarantee a specific condition on the copies we ship for the foreseeable future. Current month books from MARVEL looked pretty good, although the comic paper seems thinner. DC Comics paper seems to be the same as always. Current books read: Arrowsmith (Behind Enemy Lines): Issue #2; Captain America #0 (New Series); Electra #100. |

Righteous Thirst is going along nicely although the cover price seems high for the amount of words that aren't in the book. Patch has a inker. No wonder the art doesn't just look like digital dog vomit. It has some character. Story seems set in the 80s judging by having white Nick Fury in there. Good stuff today. |

@Studley_Dudley what do you think of the DC horror books? I'm drawn in by the covers but I typically find the stories to be unsatisfying. I've never read Witching Hour, more HOS/HOM which tend to have very short stories that wrap up very quickly.

@EbayMafia To me, I enjoy Witching Hour and Ghosts as well of the HOM/HOS/Unexpected/etc but the titles can be inconsistent since it is anthology based. I feel like the covers are what drive sales of the titles in the back issue market now. Some have amazing art. Nick Cardy, Neal Adams and Bernie Wrightson all contributed some top tier covers. Some of the stories in Ghosts are based on actual events (how supernatural those events are is clearly up for debate). But the main reasons I started collecting Ghosts and Witching Hour was that I was looking for something a little different that wouldn't break the bank and that I didn't have to brush up on 30+ years of continuity for. I've found that I like the line art, and it fits the style and tone of the books but the inking can make or break the story within.

I was under the impression that David Hasselhoff Nick Fury was retired after Original Sin. Is he Samuel L Jackson's father in continuity? I remember that being explained at some point.

OG Nick Fury is 'the Unseen', sort of a replacement Watcher. As far as Wikipedia is up to date he appeared in part of Empyre and maybe whatever the recent FF event is. Samuel L. Fury is Nick's son and has not had his page updated as recently but does more SHIELD-type stuff.

@HeinzDad Honestly, they destroyed the Punisher... Now he's working for the Hand, whom worship a demon that brings back his wife... and as long as he continues to work for them, they will bring back his kids... So, they made Frank, that came to the realization that his family was gone for good; came to terms with this loss, to fuel his emptiness and hate to continue to do what he does, to be the Punisher... Has now bent to the knee to a group that Daredevil, Ironfist etc has defeated, just so Marvel can remove his Iconic Skull and Guns..... and turned him into a ninja... They destroyed the Punisher we all love... They should have just Killed him off.... For good. They will never get any of my money on this series... |
