As he said..he handled the dual 7's for me but the 8.5 cost me a.small fortune. Most I paid for a book since the eighties ..it came out of a MCS auction a few years back and one in the same grade signed by Steranko hasn't seemingly changed hands since

It is indeed a cool book. Im looking at a copy of #47

I just love the way Kirby gets all of those different perspectives in! From the Stretching of Reed, to the Overwhelming plight and strength of Ben Grimm, all surrounded by Johnny's blazing arc of fire!

Just a Super cool cover! Oh! but of coarse there's Sue hanging in great peril again!

This is a sample pic I stole from MCS, The book Im looking at is slabbed, which I will crack it out if I pull the trigger on it.

Happy Collecting
John

I generally have never cared for the Fantastic Four as a group. I like the characters, but the writing always sucked when I was a kid. But people have constantly told me that the early FF stories were good. So when Ed posted a FF #84 for sale, I decided to do a little digging because I've always loved that Dr. Doom cover.

So I went to MCS and learned 2 things about that comic. First off, it started a four comic story arc that had Dr. Doom (who has always been in my top 10 Marvel villains) and that the four comics were reprinted in the Marvel's Greatest Comics title. I found all 4 MGC books at MCS at about $2 a piece for fine copies. I also found a copy of a comic that caught my eye from our weekly cover contest. I got these from MCS today. I look forward to reading them.

@Jesse_O - That's some great reading material for your birthday, Jesse! I have no idea how Kirby was able to create all those amazing science fiction instruments and devices, and look at all the incredible details he put into almost every panel! It blows my mind to think about how much effort and work he put forth during that time period.

@HeinzDad BTW that SWEEEEEEEEET! Swamp Thing book didn't go unnoticed. That is one kick ass looking book!

The slab label states "WrapAround Cover" Was you just going to leave us hanging? The back my dear man the back!

Interesting I had no idea this existed. I assume it was a very low print run since it was priced at 60 cents in 1977 when comics were 25-35 cents. Are they very expensive to pick up?

yeah I’m still unsure of what that story is but when we looked it up to trade we could only find it listed as the title on your pic. @EbaySeller, it reprints issues one and two, double issue double price???

FYI...

What a screwed up and confusing series "DC Special Series" was. A hodgepodge of Blue
Ribbon Digest to reprints to a Treasury size Batman vs Hulk book. They also didn't always identify it as a "DC Special Series" in the indicia. Anyway, as far as Swamp Thing reprints go, they did...

DC Special Series #2 reprints Swamp Thing #1 and 2.

DC Special Series #14 reprints Swamp Thing #3 and 4.

DC Special Series #17 reprints Swamp Thing #5-7.

DC Special Series #20 reprints Swamp Thing #8-10.

About two weeks ago, I did a blind comic pull that a friend of mine was doing on Facebook. Besides the Death original art that I posted on the O.A. thread, here are the comics I won.

I bought this Swamp Thing #1 From board member @EbaySeller. I love buying from the board members. The way I bought this one was by checking some old “for sale” threads. I have found some good deals and great service that way. Thank you all that I’ve had the privilege to purchase from.

Here's the highlight of my mail call this week. I bought this copy of Moon Knight 1 off of a spinner rack when I was 12 years old, so I’m thrilled that it came back from CGC graded 9.8 following signature by Bill Sienkiewicz at NYCC!! I recently made a deal with a local guy who was selling a few lots of comics. While picking up the comics, I asked if he had anything else. Lo and behold, he had a total of three short boxes (including he ones I was already buying). Was able to make a deal for all of them on the spot. Just finished going through box #1. I'll post some pics of the other boxes later today.

I'm actually not much of a DC collector, so once I have a chance to go through these in more detail, I might post them for sale or trade here.

Finally went through box #2. It was a very mixed bag of stuff.
Start of with some moderns, but with a few variants.

More moderns, but I like the Gold Spiderman second printing. Didn't have one of those.

A variety of signed comics including a double signed Spider-Gwen #1 (with COA's).

Prints of Scottie Young covers, 3 of them signed.

9 Scottie Young variant cover comics.

7 more Scottie Young variant cover comics, but these ones are signed. (6 have COA's)

Here's the rest of box #2.
Starting off with a bunch of ASM.

The ASM 252 looks to be in very nice shape, unfortunately both of the SW 8's are dinged up.

All of these are in rough shape, but I love the Nick Fury 2 Steranko cover.

More silver age DC's.

That's all for Box #2. Don't think I'll get to box #3 until tomorrow.
