Stopped at a few shops on my way to my dad's house. I'm embarrassed to say that there was some pure dreck that found it's way to me.

$0.30 price variant. This one will need some good work done to it by a pancake professional.

NM $0.75 Canadian price variant just hanging out with the rest.

I can't believe I stooped to this...

Have you come to accept Newton Rings, or are they gone now, leaving fewer reasons to NOT go with CGC?

Newton Rings are not 100% gone, but are certainly less common than they once were.

agree

Picked up this awesome book! Im just amazed at how much more difficult it is to find higher grade copies of these DC books as compared to Marvel books from the same era. My grade threshold has always been 7.5- 8.0 or higher, which is usually obtainable with the Marvel books. With these DC books Im excited to be able to find a nice 6.0-7.0

And here is the book in my Cyber-Slab I just love the Washtone/Grey tone cover

If you ever see Mike Zeck in person take that detective issue and let him sign the piece he did inside towards the back...gorgeous piece and great for that purpose

@BigRedOne1944 Agree 100%. Those of us around here who collect SA DCs seem to be a minority, but you're right... high grade SA DC's (and even BA DCs) are MUCH more difficult to find than high grade Marvels of the same era. I'm always happy to find one that I've been hunting and generally don't mind paying a premium to get it.

And that is an awesome cover on that comic, btw. Nice get!

I had no idea that he did a piece in there. He’s usually comes to town even though the show he goes to may not happen anymore. But I’ll definitely will!

Couple of new World War II covers I picked up recently.

Speed Comics #27, Harvey, July, 1943. 9 universal CGC census, 0 cbcs.

Captain Aero #5, Holyoke, May, 1942. 6 universal CGC, 1 cbcs, none higher than a 5.0.

Recently purchased June 1958 Harvey file set.

This book is interesting because the dimensions are significantly different than all the other file Sets I have. While the top edge appears to be trimmed as per usual, I thought maybe the outer edge had not been trimmed at all. When I compared it against some floppy June ‘58 Harveys I could see that it was only extremely slightly trimmed on the outer edge, maybe 1/16 to 1/8 inch. Most volumes are probably trimmed more along the lines of 1/4” to 3/8”. It’s the subtle variations like this that show that these beauties were hand crafted and not mass produced.

In addition, this volume features some great covers including a George Baker satellite cover and a classic Warren Kremer hot springs cover for Hot Stuff #5. Also included this month is the Harvey Hits “Little Lotta’s Lunchbox” issue. When they released it as an ongoing series the title was changed to “Little Lotta in Foodland”. I think I like the first title better.

This is far from all the comics in this volume, but definitely enough for you to get the idea. There seemed to be a fishing theme that month, with three different fishing covers.

There is a page size piece he did with the moon appearing in the right place to capture his signature perfectly. I am too lazy to dig mine out but signed like mine was, it looks like a frameable art piece. His signature is clean and distinctive as well so the entire thing just works well.

picked this up, double cover. Cgc is having a private signing with the legend Jim steranko. Thought this would be perfect for him to sign. I'm hoping it's going to be the only 110 double cover signed by steranko
