I would have trouble buying it. But I would also have trouble passing on it. It's one of those books that I hope to own but probably never will.

Even if it's in 0.5 shape, it's around $140. Might even get a little more from a collector being it's the 1st Appearance of the Legion of Super-Heroes. Still a great find.

This would fit better in the Back In My Collection thread. Even though I keep all my Hulks I let this sit at a shop on consignment for the last 9 months. I drug this book 300 hundred miles to another country to have Keown scribble on it. Unfortunately that didn’t work out so subsequently it was the only Keown book I submitted because I “knew” it was a 9.8. It came back as seen here, I got pissed looking at it, so I sent it off to be sold. That’s when I learned my lesson on incentive variants. Enjoy at my expense fellas!

Got a pleasant surprise from Unknown Comics. They had this listed as not shipping until August. I guess Brooks' schedule freed up with the lack of conventions.

Also got these added on. They'll be in my sale thread at some point.

Love a good Fett cover. Picked these Star Wars Tales issues you off EBay this week. Grabbed issue 7 for $15 a day before it went through the roof.

Great Marvel Comics #1 cover & Wolverines 13's cover says it all (maybe too much?!?) - Moon Knight action covers to get signed & graded - Got pair of X-Force Annual to open one for the poster inside. And everyone wants a piece of Batman on MCS exclusive DK3 cover.

I think CFP mentioned "blazing white pages" on books north of the border. He wasn't wrong. Some of the raw books are super white pages, even if they have some outer wear. Mike found himself a new run or two to put together.

@KatKomics thanks! The pence pickings have been slim with my sources still locked down in the UK. I figure I can knock out these Canadian price variants. I think I have about 10 or more on the way. Do you guys refer to American newsstand versions as such also or are those also just comic books?

@Studley_Dudley How can one tell if they have a Canadian Price Variant? Is there a visual queue pn the cover? Or does one need to know what the American price was at the time?

The cover price, eg $0.75 vs $0.95

The most frustrating thing is not all news stand books were CPV even when bought in Canada. Gosh...would have been 1986/87 when I had my first after school job and I would buy books at the corner store, many were news stand (even off the news stand some had the spidey or Cap head) but only a few were what we now call CPV. It's too bad cause all my Kravens Last Hunt, Inferno, Atlantis Attacks, Evolutionary War, Secret War, DC Invasion etc etc. were mostly from 1 corner store in town. It would be awesome if they were all CPV!!

Looks like all my Squadron Supreme were!

Not sure what was the decision point to have CPV or not?

Fun on maxi-series cause they span a year or two so with exchange the CPV are 1.50 then 1.00 then .95...just all over the place

The cover price, eg $0.75 vs $0.95

So one needs to know what the US price was...$0.95 was never a US price.

We just run through the example like this.

Punisher #1 Direct Edition. We see all three prices in the box. $1.25, 50p for the UK, and $1.50 for Canada

Punisher #1 Newsstand. Only the $1.25

Then the Canadian price variant with $1.50

The index will also tell you. If you look in the index, you can find what the price is for the US and CAN. It will say something like "the price is $0.60 in the US and $0.75 in Canada. They should also all be newsstand copies. I've found that this resource was super helpful in identifying some of the books. They really don't look any different, except for $0.95 copies because that isn't a usual price anyone is used to seeing.

That's what I don't understand with it. The direct editions were distributed to the comic shops, but then the CPV copies may not have always been distributed to the newsstand market. I also don't know why Marvel made them at all. They stopped pence only priced books at the end of 1981, so why do it for just Canada and not just print the US/UK/CAN prices on both direct and newsstand?

Generally follows like:

$0.60 -> $0.75 CAN
$0.75 -> $0.95 or $1.00 CAN
$1.00 -> $1.25 CAN
$1.25 -> $1.50 CAN
