Perhaps just random luck?

Was this by any chance, Al Hartley, who helped broker the deal with (and drew) the Spire Christian Comics: https://comicsworthreading.com/2010/05/14/archies-christian-comics/

I can say for certain that Dan DeCarlo (who I am pretty sure did the cover for Betty and Me #55, though it's not credited, and created Sabrina and Josie and Cheryl Blossom) tried to get away with as much possible innuendo as he could. He spent a considerable time cartooning for Playboy as well.

He was still at it in the 90s:

Got this great looking X-Men 59 from board member @Cgroc09. Best part of the book are the two great authenticated signatures, Chris Claremont (always wanted) and Neil Adams! Love it.

This has been one of my grails.

It’s a lower quality copy, but I’m on a budget right now.

Thanks! My camera is too good, and doesn’t show how yellow it is.

If I had to hazard a grading guess, I’d say 2.0.

Comics Elite had a mystery X-Men variant box so I picked one up.

House of X 2 variant by Putri, looks like it has the combined art from the original House/Powers variant combining covers.

X-Men 2 variant by Anacleto

X-Force 1 variant by Ngu and 2 by Skan

Mauraders 1 by Land and Fallen Angels 1 by Maer

Excalibur 1 by Anacleto and New Mutants 2 by Suyan

Certainly, I wasn't suggesting otherwise of course....I have a few x books he signed on the first page and I got them that way and spent a few days wondering who in hell scribbled all over them until I sorted it

Dark Phoenix Saga was one of the first comic stories I read as a kid, and I thought Wolverine on his own was so bad ass. (30 years later and I still think it's bad ass.)

@Jabberwookie @Darkseid_of_town Thanks fellas. A mystery box was perfect because I sometimes want a variant but can't bring myself to order something every other week and have the shipping eat me up. I had eyed the X-23 and the Illyana but hadn't pulled the trigger, so this is a nice treat.

I already had one or two from that box and don't want one or two, so send me a PM or keep an eye on my sales thread if any jumped out at you.

Put a Wrightson cover in front of me and see if I don’t buy it.
Not a valuable book but I couldn’t turn down the 80’s attire.
