Just for fun,..what is your favorite dinosaur or prehistoric creature?11405

Collector Darkseid_of_town private msg quote post Address this user
So why not just for fun..what is your favorite dinosaur or prehistoric animal...or even your favorite science theory or idea about them...or even a question you might have regarding them?

My favorite dinosaur is Psittacosaurus Meileyingensis because I happen to own an actual skeleton of one mounted in my home. He stands 27 inches long, nine inches tall at the hips, has 66 verts in his back, massive jugal horns and looks like the son of satan….lol

He would have looked like this one alive...
Here is mounted
When I first got him needing cleaned, mounted and preserved...

My model Amargasaurus

Another favorite is Amargasaurus Cazaui from South America...a spined sauropod and rather off species...

Do these count?

But seriously, I always had a fascination with triceratops. Something about them seemed majestic to me.

I love pterosaurs!!! We sometimes find them even in Kansas! Technically they aren't dinosaurs but definitely prehistoric and amazing animals

They say the largest one had wingspan of a 747 jet!

I had no way of knowing that 9.8 graded copies signed by Adam Hughes weren't what you were looking for. drchaos private msg quote post Address this user
I always liked the Triceratops.

If we are including ficticious animals I will say any of the Herculoids.

A man after my own heart...I have these myself! My cat is even named for Grimlock the T rex...
Triceratops.....so many dinosaurs in that family, styracosaurus, einsosaurus, chasmosaurus, torosaurus, but triceratops is by far most common . Those horns had to be frightful in real life because at museums all you see are cores...imagine them covered in keratin

I was picturing one of stereotypical cartoons with some oaf dragging a woman by the hair back to his cave carrying a club. Jeesh, that sounds horrible after you type it in and read it out loud.

Yes, Triceratops. LQQKing like a modern Rhino/Hippo with a triple horn (hence the name, Tri, yes?) probably made lesser dinos get out of the way.

@CaptainCanuck @GAC Yep, I went the prehistoric creature route. I like a lot of dinosaurs, so it'll take me a bit to narrow it down to one. But if you include prehistoric animals, the smilodon wins every time for me.

@Jesse_O I love the name of this creature too...I believe it's pronounced SMILE-O-DON. A creature that fierce with a name like that is hilarious to me.

Hmmm...I know we know (explored) less about the depths of our oceans than the moon, but if there was a small group of megalodon swimming out there I feel we'd be seeing mangle up whale carcasses washed up. I'd love for them to still be alive but I don't think they are.

@Darkseid_of_town actually, it was Jurassic Park that introduced me to them. But at the time that the movie was being made, they didn't think that the velociraptor had feathers. So you really can't blame the movie for that. But yeah, every time I see or hear of velociraptors, I look into it. I think they look way cooler with the feathers!! I still like to think that they hunted in packs!!!

think of all the whale beachings and mass beachings you see in the news. ..and if the whales were consumed whole...

by the first movie feathers were suspected for many dinosaurs. By the sequel it was fairly well established. Today they continue with featherless raptors anyways. Aside from the incorrect hands. ..incorrect size etc. As for pack hunting I doubt they had the cranial capacity but perhaps they were opportune hunters and would use cooperative tactics
