Most new guys charge to much unless it’s for PC or a Key, for witnessed sigs it ranges usually 10-20 unless it is a higher profile creator.

Neal Adams charges $50 for a signature. Add $10 if to be graded. Will only do sketches if its been agreed before time with his biz mgr/son. He offered a break a few weeks ago when he signed at his old school, his daughter is the show promoter, $20/first $50/additional. (he twiddling his thumbs for most of the 2 days). He is doing a signing at a comic shop in a month. Same $50/per - 5 going. Pfft.

When you ask for a list, N/A. Prices are fluid and depend on creator, the show and sometimes what's being signed (Liefeld doubles for New Mutants 98). Good luck.

..... and to think there was a time (a long duration of time) where he signed for free. That's when I got all my Neal Adams autographs.

When it went to $50, and if up to me, he could twiddle his thumbs all day.

Artists feel they need their cut from the sales on Ebay.

Get out! you are kidding? I love his art and what he's done for comics but I would never pay that kind of money for any ones autograph.

I get it, there is no way for the artist/creator to know when it's for a personal collection or for re-sale. but 150 is (in my opinion) unreasonable. even 50 for Neal Adams is too much for me. I have a couple of items that have Neal Adams' signature, but I bought a book that i liked that he was clearing out that included the signature so in essence i got his signature for an average of 30 dollars each with a book I really liked/wanted.

Amen to this. They should take their cut. But theres a reasonable balance. Sitting there twiddling thumbs because of the $50 rate shows how reasonable that dollar amount is on the scale

Some of the greats, like Sergio Arargones & Jim Steranko still don’t charge (as of last year). They are true gentlemen who enjoy talking with collectors.

Steranko charges $20 for PC and $30 if being graded. That was in Jan 2020.

Steranko has definitely charged for a couple years at least. Maybe not at every con, but every con I've seen him at.

If it helps at all, here are some of the prices for signatures I got at C2E2:
Tony S. Daniel $10
David Finch $5
Babs Tarr Free
Jenny Frison Free
Gail Simone Free

I do also know that some will sign the first two or so books for free and then you have to pay for each one after that.

From my experience most of the deceased artists tend not to charge nor sign for that matter....

If more Cons get cancelled I wonder if we will see more artist attempt to work CBCS and CGC to stage Todd McFarlane style witnessing events for yellow labels?

Pretty much the same prices and lack of customers at his 12 (estimated)tables of posters and prints. Nice guy . His sleek signature is now getting shaky .i didn’t get one from him. I bought a signed slabbed yellow graded comic of his from some dealer for less than half what he was charging.

You also have to watch-out for who is "sponsoring" them at the con. This is one of the reasons cost is fluid. If they're present as part of a group of creators (like with comicsketchart.com) they're all going to charge. If they're just independently at a smaller con they might not charge at all. Some people, it depends on you. Ed McGuinness (as of last year was still doing this) charged $5.00 for sig or free if you got it personalized. i believe he was charging for any witnessed (even if personalized) $10.00. When I've gotten Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Connor in the past they occasionally take the money and donate what they collect. Few years ago Mark Texeira was charging $5.00, but then insisted on doing a remark on every comic he signed as well. he felt it was up to him to help increase the value of your comic. I assume he's still doing something similar.

They're just tired of people making money off their work/kindness. They assume if you're getting graded you're looking to sell. If you show up with a massive stack, you're looking to sell. Right or wrong; that's what speculators moving into collector's markets have done to them.

In general, charging for signatures has the opposite impact they're going for. By charging they're hoping to reduce the number of people looking to turn a profit. But, those running a shop/looking to sell will pass the cost of that signing fee on to a buyer, plus additional mark-up. Who they eliminate from the process are people like me. Who just want a signature on a Personal copy. I'm not paying $50.00 for a Neal Adams sig for a book that will just stay with me till I die...or have a major medical issue and need money to maintain life.

A few other artists I've gotten and am scraping my memory for...
Jim Cheung was I think $10, or $20 if it was to be graded.
Rick Leonardi was free and I don't think had ever heard of comic grading.
Bob McLeod charged extra for grading, but I didn't get his sig so I don't remember the numbers.
Barry Kitson charged less on a sketch, even if it was going to be graded, if you got it personalized.
Chris Claremont charged $5 a book, didn't ask about grading. His price might have depended on the fact that the con was dead.

I had Bob McLeod sign a New Mutants #1 last year. I believe he charged me $30 because it was witnessed by CBCS. Otherwise, I think it was $5 or $10 for his signature.

I love Neal Adams’ work from the 1970's and 1980's, and when I went to my first comic book convention in 20+ years about five or six years ago, he was there. Even though I have hundreds of books with his work, I didn't bring any with me for signature. So I actually bought a book for him to sign. I think it was $30 for his signature then. The next time I saw him at a convention was a few years later, and the price was now $50 per signature. So instead of getting 3 or 4 books signed, I only had him sign two. It kind of feels like he is trying to support his entire family with his signature fees.

A super nice guy who doesn't charge for his signature is Jim Shooter. He says that only artists should charge. I had him sign an Adventure Comics that he actually did the pencils for and wrote the story too when he was like 15 years old.

Newer artists should never charge more than Legendary people like, say: Roy Thomas, Larry Lieber, or John Romita. Just to name a few. There were a few people I said thank you to and walked away after they told me how much they were charging. To each his own I guess.

I paid Mike Zeck all of ten dollars for a signature and felt that was quite fair. He was quite easygoing and fun to deal with in all.

Regarding new artists....
I forget who the artist was at that same show, someone who had done some Deadpool work, that I was wanting to hire for a sketch commission. I waited for him to respond to a few ahead of me in line...which took awhile. When it was my turn I inquired about commissions and sketches... He interrupted me to respond to a friend of his that walked up while I was talking and continued for so long it was awkward...I might have stood there 20 minutes while they talked about various things...….so I quietly wandered off and shoved my 200 dollars back in my pocket. Guy apparently isn't the best at understanding fan support and cash flow.

Side note..I have Neal adams on the list of signatures I want, but ive found it far easier to sometimes buy a slabbed signature book, offered at a fair price rather than fork over fifty or possibly more for a signature that isn't even slabbed yet.

I will find something he signed, that is offered fairly and get both a book and signature for fair price
