Simple Question. Has anyone done it and is it worth it?

@BigDaddyK managed to sit through the whole video (in my 40's without A.D.D. - that was a hard video to watch) Seems like this is something to stay far away from.

You could use that money to buy comics that you actually want.

To be honest...I never understood why anyone would ever ever ever buy one of these mystery box sales (unless it's a charity thing and even then...). Its waaaaay too easy for scams and shenanigans and I believe everyone one of them do. No one ever gets the good stuff advertised.

ComicTom is a good resource for people getting into the speculation game....I watched his videos when he was starting out for his Top 10 and related books...

Now I'm at a point where I find either I already have his list pegged or I'm ahead of the game before it comes out (same for Key Comic Collector and CBSI).

I also dislike how he was against CGC grading practices at conventions and now gushes over them...

I've followed Tom since he first started and have sent him books for the Comic Karma. I knew he was doing well by the growing production standards of his videos and thought "Good for the kid".I was happy for him and I learned a thing or two myself. When he started banging CGC's drum and deleted his earlier videos criticizing CGC, that was a red flag for me.

I watch Comictom101 videos from time to time. I know he promotes the mystery boxes and seems to have a decent show with his buddy Russ. I watched this video twice last night and I cannot figure out what he is being accused of.For example when he is shown with the unnatural books. Then later where comics are being offered for sale on e bay. Then there is this loud annoying music playing over Comictom talking near the end. I am really not sure what is going on. Please enlighten me guys Thx.B

I had heard he was working the CGC booth at C2E2 but was too busy myself to confirm.

He's doing just that. Promoting his boxes, he's telling his watchers/viewers/mystery box buyers he's putting this comic and that comic into a random mystery box, but sells them on FeeBay. Fans send him comics (like idiot's) and he puts them up for sale on FeeBay too. He also is in cahoots with Comic Book Invest.com and pushes his own books that he's got on FeeBay.

And works with CGC... that should tell you something about both parties.

Definitely all worth looking into...need references/referenceable links/people though. Eye witnesses, pictures,
Etc. basically indisputable evidence that can’t be denied or ignored.

I’d like to know more. But don’t want heresy and opinions. I’m not saying that’s what this is, but just making sure we’re all talking facts that can be backed up.

The facts will lead to the truth. Be un-ignorable.

Interesting. Can we assume it is the same book? I have multiples of books in similar grades. I think the editing on that video sucked big time.

That's what the video shows and the comments left by others attached to the video tell the story. You will have to make up your own decision.

Imagine if you will, a young man with a YouTube channel does a three part video series questioning the practices, lack of customer service and integrity of a large company. He also pumps out spec videos and pushes a key notification app. Now consider this person also sells on ebay. Could he be pushing the very books he put on ebay based on getting key information ahead of passing it on to the public? What if there's evidence that books given to him by viewers to be put into the mystery mail boxes show up on ebay instead. Now imagine that one day, out of the blue this young man who once was asking the hard questions of a certain company suddenly deletes said videos and soon thereafter becomes a spokesman for that very same company. While handling the Instagram account for that company, a video is posted that puts the collecting community into a frenzy and when questions are asked, this young man uses his YouTube channel to make fun of and mock those members of the collecting community who were asking the very same questions he asked 18 months earlier in videos he has since deleted.

Yes, there are three separate issues here, but they all point to a lack of integrity, transparency and honesty.

Circumstantial evidence is evidence nonetheless.
