I can't believe how tight these guys are in 1980 and the sound on this is amazing for 3 guys at a very early time in the band. The words aren't even what we know the song to be today.

One had to wonder how good Whitesnake would have gotten if Coverdale hadn't fired Sykes.

As with all things Thin Lizzy the live version of the songs are always better. My favorite Thin Lizzy song and the live album I first heard it on. This song haunts me.

He was on Northern Exposure (TV series) and the guitar solo he played was amazing when he went of to the stage they built for his visit as the rock star character he play named Brad Bonner. I can never find it on YouTube.

Found this Golden Earring live performance quite interesting. Very prog, years before big hits like Radar Love and Twilight Zone...

I had just read about that and I don’t know I remembered that or not?

I watched Northern Exposure for a long time, but it’s probably been 25 years since I saw that show.

Either way, Adam is a pretty talented guy.

Those 80s new wave artist don’t get enough credit.

@Towmater

I think you’re the only person I’ve ever heard reference Blue Murder, or John Sykes, for that matter.

I loved that first album at the time. I might need to give Jelly Roll a turn now that I’m thinking of it.

Nine Inch Nails-Only is what I’m rocking to today!

@Jabberwookie I don't think many people know just how much input Sykes had and how he changed the Whitesnake sound. Also, you can see his fingerprints on Thin Lizzy in the song Cold Sweat which he co-wrote, his influence on the band in Live Life which he plays lead guitar on. What would have happened if Sykes could have spent more time in either band is a mystery. However, I bet it would have been magical. I like Blue Murder but the music scene was changing with grunge taking over and I think Sykes missed his window.

I find myself listening to a bunch of different music now. Everything from the 1950's to the 2000's.

I am primarily a 70's/early 80's rocker (RUSH, Pink Floyd, Zep, Sabbath,... etc), but I do have a soft spot in my heart for a personal selection of 80's pop/dance music,.. as I've recently been posting. It's a phase I go through on occasion.
