Wow. That's amazing ... Batman #89 is preselling for more than Hell Arisen #3, even though it is barely a cameo. $130 was the last sale. That won't last long.

But I did hear they opened up HA #3 for additional sales after the new character announcement, after Final Order cutoff. So the word is, HA #3 won't be shorted, but Batman #89 might be.

@Tedsaid yeah. And if HA #3 goes into a third printing, it's probably also one to get. Look at Naomi #1, 3rd print. It's worth more than the 2nd print and almost more than issue #2 1st print.

I would prescreen them myself and get all the ones I send in graded. A few 9.6's can easily be sold at a discount. But yeah, it's pretty much how Gana described.

Basically, it will cost $20 per slab, if you include shipping and membership discounts. The comic itself is about 50% of retail, so each is maybe $3 total. So you are talking $25 per slab, tops, and most will be 9.8. It's a good business model, if you have enough customers to buy bulk. And The Comic Mint has a LOT of customers.

You know, I'm old school on 2nd, 3rd, etc., printings. I just don't get how or why they would be so valuable. Unless it is a completely new cover art or something, I usually just ignore them.

But I know it's a thing now, since the print run is so small, and a lot of people collect 'em.

Same thing with Whitman reprints, you know? Those used to be one step up from trash, always reader-beater copies. But I guess that made them hard to find now, so they are suddenly very valuable.

How many 2nd and 3rd prints have become valuable? What are the big ones? I never paid attention to them. Only one I can remember is the cool Anti Venom one. I thinks it was the 2nd or 3rd print of ASM 569.

Collector GanaSoth private msg quote post Address this user
@moodswing Another example is Superman #18, the 5th printing is the most valuable out of the prints followed by the 4th then 3rd. 3rd and 1st prints are very close in value. 2nd print being the lowest value out of them all.

Also, Venom, First Host #3, 2nd print is valuable as well. You could buy like 5 copies of the 1st print for what one copy of the 2nd print cost.

without pointing at the elephant in the room has anyone tried to buy the 2nd let alone 3rd prints of hulk 377? Goo luck with the third print , it is pretty spendy

@Darkseid_of_town yep. 3rd print Hulk #377 in NM condition is like trying to find a high grade Hulk #1 (1962). They just don't seem to exist.

Midtown sold out of Hell Arisen #3 in literally seconds. And it was limit 1 per customer.

Not sure how much that reopened order helped there.

My LCS didn't even get to put Batman #89 on the shelves, because so many people added it to their pull lists. But, shockingly, it appears my subscription at Atomic Empire did not short me on it. Yay! So I will get at least two copies.

The "reopened for orders" was one source, and I can't remember who or where. So, not sure if it was true. Maybe someone at The Comic Mint Facebook page?

I was also told the Hell Arisen appearance is ALSO a cameo. But, you know ... full character, with dialog. So DC is making this very complicated, stringing it along. Batman #92A will be the first cover appearance.

Before I get into my LCS today I would like to start by saying I don’t know anything about batman nor do I care to. With that being said I’ve followed everyone’s information here over the last few days and figured “well if an 89 is sitting at the LCS after work today I’ll grab one”. Mostly this was all kind of with a laugh, the dc guys around here are rabid, and it seems these guys are always lined up outside on new comic day to begin with. When I browsed the new this week section there was a sign where the Bats would be that read as follows, “ Batman 89 is behind the counter, if that’s all you are here for it’s a 20 dollar upcharge, and if you are looking for more than one each additional will be a 20 dollar up charge”. I just kind of laughed because it’s the first time he has ever done that, and like it or not it’s his store and he can do what he wants. That got me to thinking, he probably has some still and even though I’ve never bought a Bats off him I’ve paid for plenty of other things. So sure enough I was able to exercise my right as a regular to grab one of these. What the heck huh?? Thanks for a good feed everyone and once again a collectors heads up. For any of you guys that collect and don’t land one hit me up, I pretty much got it with someone else in mind whoever it may be.

I had no way of knowing that 9.8 graded copies signed by Adam Hughes weren't what you were looking for. drchaos private msg quote post Address this user
Hit a total of six comic stores to get three copies of Batman 89.

@drchaos I just picked up the last copy out of 4 Comic Shops (near me). No damage at all, no bends, no color rubs, etc. Paid cover price too.

I feel I got lucky. Maybe I should go buy some scratch-offs or a lottery ticket tonight.

@GanaSoth I paid cover price for all three of mine.

I could have had a fourth copy if I coughed up $25 but I declined.

Oddly I didn't even notice if this was on the shelf at my LCS. My owner did keep a Wolverine #1 aside if I wanted it...I did not which is ok...apparently some rubes are looking for it.

@KatKomics yeah I skipped out on the Wolverine #1 also. It feels like every 4 to 6 months they seem to reboot the same characters with a new volume just to put a number #1 on it.

Good luck...all the comic stores in Denver are pre-sold out

Picked up a couple today. No problem.

If the viagra is working you should be well over a 9.8. xkonk private msg quote post Address this user
@Towmater unknown comics has their Hell Arisen #3 sales up. You can get a regular copy, which has a blanket promise (any new book) of 9.2 or better, for $25. Or you can wait until the end of September to get a CGC 9.8 for $85. With that lag and price I would guess that flippers would be better served submitting with a screen like others described.

I didn't know Wolverine had a new series until this morning. At a cover price of $7.99, I declined, although the Scott Williamson cover was pretty cool. I also rolled my 403b into my 401k today.

@Studley_Dudley for what it's worth (maybe $7.99?), there are basically two separate stories in there. Both new.

It's not that I don't like Wolverine, I do. I've also liked Adam Kubert's Wolverine art going back to the 90s. I'm just looking to cut my costs on new books because my monthly pull list cost seems to keep going up. It's gotten some good reviews so I'll look at it when I go to the store.

There is a yellow die cut cover for Wolvie 1 that reminded me of childhood and the wolverine 50 “yellow folder” cover I couldn’t say no to.

I think the Flash #88 could be a sleeper.
Everyone was concentrating on Batman #89 while Flash #88 is the first appearance of Paradox.
Here's a pic of my copy:

Heads up guys... I just got word that Batman #94 (First Cover Appearance of Punchline) has been changed to Batman #92.

"DC has changed the cover art for Batman #92 variant to the Artgerm that was originally solicited for #94. This Artgerm will now be the cover art for #92 variant."
