ISO: The Crow #1 NM+ or 9.811168

Collector nikki666666 private msg quote post Address this user
Does anyone have a copy of the Crow #1 for sale that would

A) be a good candidate for a 9.8 grade or
B) have a 9.8 graded copy for sale

I have a 9.4 and 9.6 but want a 9.8

Both my copies looked exceptionally good to me and I sent them off hoping for the illusive 9.8 but to no avail.

I had no way of knowing that 9.8 graded copies signed by Adam Hughes weren't what you were looking for. drchaos private msg quote post Address this user
I wish I did but I have something even better:

@nikki666666 Your books are incredible!!!

EDIT: LOL...sorry, that meant to read YOUR books..not OUR books...even though all our books are pretty cool.

I have my set of Crow that I want to send in having been a huge fan since it was first released. That first issue has a very low print run and with it having a lot of black in the cover it can be hard to pull a 9.8. I made sure to pick the absolute best copy at the time and cherished it, so I am hoping it will grade high as well. I will be having it pressed first and it will come back a red label since James signed it back in 1993 or 1994. Great looking books you all have too by the way!

I'm tempted to send my 9.6 in for a pressing and regrade. My only worry is it came back lower. Maybe send my 9.4 first for a press see if that makes a 9.6. They I could send the 9.6 😂😁

@nikki666666 would you consider purchasing the graders notes? might have a clue as to which book (if any) is a candidate for a grade bump.

You should have them pressed, not sure how it couldn't help. Perhaps that 9.6 could get a 9.8 and it would be much cheaper to have them pressed than to buy a 9.8, since one of those sold for thousands recently on eBay.

@Kinsella5 @GAC surely CGC would have to bump my grade if they are pressing a 9.6 and regrading? And like you say, for the price of a pressing its worth the risk

I bought a meat grinder on amazon for $60 and it's changed my life. kaptainmyke private msg quote post Address this user
I would resubmit the 9.6 see if you get a pass through different grading period

Buy the notes if you didn't submit it yourself and copy/paste the notes in here to see if pressing is even possible. I've had 9.6 SS pressed by CCS and they came back 9.4 so I wouldn't necessarily go that route, honestly.

This is one of the biggest misconception about pressing (restoration in my book) There are no guarantees pressing equates into any kind of grade increase.

That is true, nothing in life is a guarantee, I can't imagine a pressing wouldn't at least help but it depends on what is keeping them from being a 9.8. As others mentioned perhaps the grader's notes would help.

There may not even be grader notes for a 9.4-9.6. The trend lately is to assign grades without offering a reason why.

If theres no graders notes I'd try pressing the 9.4 first. Without a better than good chance I wouldn't risk the 9.6.
