Didn't own a grading guide since I moved to the States so bought one just a couple of days ago off Amazon.

Funny thing is my wife buys off them all the time and buys items smaller not fragile and comes in a larger box drowning in peanuts.

My book just gets placed inside a box and shipped as is. Not even a scrunched up newspaper to fill the box.

Or am I expecting too much.
It's only a trade paperback and I'm certainly not treating it as a collectible.
I know it's environmentally friendly

Is this just me that I'd expect a little better ?

Maybe a padded mailer where it would be better protected and be cheaper shipping ?

No, it's not you - sure they should have used a padded envelope to ship it. If you buy their exclusive Funko Pop! a single gets shipped in an envelope! Oh really? No mint for you. See their reviews and complaints about damage because it was sent in an envelope. Luckily i ordered 2 so they were put in a box with packing peanuts. They treated the Marvel Collector Corps boxes the same - a single gets a shipping label slapped on it and out it goes - then gets skid marks from shipping. Order 2 and they get put in a box. What a biz- double order for better packing.

It's like the Roach Motel for comic collectors. chester15 private msg quote post Address this user
Amazon is the worst! When they got up a head of steam years ago, to handle the volume, they changed the way the whole world ships. They figured out it was much cheaper to do a crappy job shipping and just replace the disaster packages than to ship each item professionally. THEY have the depth to do that. But everyone copied them, based on how they are receiving shipments FROM Amazon, and now it's rampant. Even small sellers are doing it, and they don't have the depth of numbers to afford to replace things.

Amazon figures that 1 of 3 results will occur on the shipment:

1. Through sheer luck, nothing will happen to the item or the package, everyone is happy.
2. There will be some minor damage. But the customer might not care, just looking to read the book, or accepts the damage considering the "good deal", isn't a "complainer", or doesn't want the hassle of dealing with it.
3. Finally, there is the customer who DOES care and is PO'd that their item came damaged. For them, they replace it, or if on the Marketplace 3rd party, you might get an offer of compensation, and a "my bad".

Amazon doesn't realize that in 2 of the 3 instances, they have disappointed a customer. And they don't care. There must be an endless supply of customers out thee that I don't know about.

Amazon shipping sucks! I have not bought any books from them for years due to poor packaging. It does no good to contact Amazon's customer service before books are shipped and beg them to use more protective padding because they will not comply even though they assure you they will. I have known people to send the same books back multiple times and every time they get a damaged book. I have used Instocktrades for several years now and they always pack securely.

It was Amazon. Not a third part dealer thru Amazon.

Amazon is trash now. I haven't ordered anything from them in over a year because the last two times, the packages were crap. One was just a padded envelope stuffed with books that were damaged, and the other was an oversized box with no packing material in it.

I just ordered a handful of figures through them. I had to wait until they had enough in stock to order just to assure they would use a box. even then I knew they wouldn't use any packaging material which they didn't. but I also knew if I ordered one at a time as they came in stock it would just arrive in a bubble mailer and be completely damaged. so chances are the box survives for the most part and 4 of the 5 figures arrived safely, the fifth slightly bent. but better odds than the bubble mailer.

Might be a regional issue. I live in Seattle, the home of Amazon. All my amazon packages get shipped same day or next day. Many tiny items are packaged in a huge box filled with bubble air packs. I have zero complaints with Amazon shipping or services, personally.

That's because they know you can find them & they don't want unhappy customers at the front door ^_#

As Chris Rock said at the Academy Awards about Jeff Bezos "Jeff is so rich, he got divorced and heโ€™s still the richest man in the world." Rock then turned to Martin. โ€œSteve, do you have anything you want to add about Mr. Bezos?โ€ he asked. Martin quipped, โ€œNo, I like getting my packages on time.โ€(He forgot to add undamaged)
