@BrianGreensnips Thank you!! This batch of books were a little tough on my predictions...I was really hoping to squeeze out an 8.0 on the Conan 1....a 7.5 with a ✔ is as close as one can get. 🍻

@GAC - Some great books there, Angelo. Sorry to see the color touch and trim on the labels - I have had that happen to me in the past, and I really fear that it is only a matter of time before it happens to me again. We certainly have similar tastes in comics.

@esaravo Thank you Ed!! Much appreciated! Yeah, the trimming and resto sucks...those books are out there for sure!

@GAC was just the Worlds Finest compromised? I tried zooming in on the others and it got blurry on me. I like that they do not give it the dreaded green label though.

@BrianGreensnips it was. It was trimmed on the top edge of back cover and last page.

I sent a small order in at the very end of the April Support the hobby promotion. It took CBCS just about 4 weeks from received to shipped (no pressing, obviously). I am super happy with the grades. Here's the least exciting of the 4. It graded exactly what I thought it would.

This graded just a little bit higher than I expected.

My beat-up X-Men #1 that I finally obtained in January thanks to considerable help from @Studley_Dudley. I had hoped for a 1.5, so I am more than satisfied with this grade (even though it is now the lowest graded book that I own).

So how do I top that? Well every year I hope to achieve a few goals that I haven't reached before. This book not only exceeded my grade expectations, but it is my first book to make an appearance on Steve Borock's "Cool books that hit my grading desk" thread. It is also the first SA book that I have submitted to hit the 9.8 mark. Pretty cool and absolutely crazy for a 54 year old comic book that I have owned for probably 35 to 40 years! And no, I never had it pressed.

@esaravo That is an Amazing book Ed! Its also nice to see there are still pristine looking boooks out there that have not been subjected to Pressing Restoration. Nice Job on that book!

@esaravo congrats man, I'm envious. CBCS should add a note to the label "As seen on Steve Borock's Cool Books thread". It could become like their own in-house pedigree and give publicity to the forum.

@GAC, @BigRedOne1944, @EbaySeller - Thanks guys. I just looked and the Avengers #24 will be the highest and only 9.8 on the new CBCS Census when it gets entered. I wonder why they didn't take a picture of it for their Featured Comics section? That's another annual goal of mine. Each year I hope to submit at least one book deemed worthy of being a Featured Comic. In 5 years of submitting, I have only had 2 books make it. Maybe next time.

@esaravo super sharp! and yes, it's odd this book did not become a Featured Comic, it certainly should
have been. I thought I had one in one of my submissions...it stated a picture of the book was taken but it never made it up on the section.

Avengers 24 is beautiful. Blows my mind to see a 9.8 on an SA book. One day, maybe I can get one on the cool books thread. I think one of the recent X-Mens I submitted has a shot. Probably not, but a boy can dream.

@GAC - That's awesome - signed by Joe Simon! And I love how it recreates/re-imagines the cover of Captain America #1, with Cap slugging a Nazi in the face (not sure if it's Hitler, can't tell from the picture) and Cap's fist also looks to be hitting Hitler's image in the nose. Great cover and great signature by another SA legend who has since passed.

@esaravo Thanks Ed!!! Theres no value in the book but that signature is huge to me....one half of the creative team that created one of the coolest and greatest Marvel characters ever...gotta love that! I wish it made it to the Featured Comic page.

If the viagra is working you should be well over a 9.8. xkonk private msg quote post Address this user
Got my mostly early X books 'support the hobby' order back. But starting with the not X books...

Got this as part of a 'trade' on eBay where we basically agreed to buy each other's books. At that time I thought it would grade better, but this is basically what I thought it was once I had it in hand.

Picked up these two because they're early X-Men crossovers. The FF is worse than I thought but the Avengers better, so... it averages out?

The #6 was about what I expected but the 7s were a pinch lower. The lower #7 will be on my sales thread soon. But still happy to have them!

These were all lower than I expected. The #10 is particularly a little sad. Nowhere to go but up, I suppose.

Finally the big guns... This #16 made it to Steve's cool books thread.

After not getting a GSX 1 for a long time because of how pricey they are, I managed to win two in separate auctions that closed around the same time. At least I was right that this one was in better shape than the already-graded one that I sold.

@Studley_Dudley Thanks! Going to be sending in my X-Men here and there over time to see where I'm at and what needs to upgrade (besides all of them, right? ). The sale was great because these early ones are too old to use a 2-day modern coupon.
