I am seriously baffled how you kept books so nice and white all these years.....

I wonder about page quality. 19 of the 20 books received White for page quality and one got OW/W. That book is from 1982, and 9 other books are from 1982 or older. Those books were all purchased new and stored in the same room in bags and long or short boxes since then. I wonder if certain books just got crappier batches of paper when they were made than others.

I bought a huge amount of Spider-man 2099 1 (I have 75 qty left to grade) back when it came out. So far the range of page quality on the few I've sent to CBCS has been white to off white / cream. Bought all in one shot so same batch.

So I have no clue how some aged better than others.....

@Bronte, Given your desire to own multiple copies in general, I shudder to imagine what the term "huge amount" might mean to you, lol.

@EbaySeller

In this example, only 100 qty of issue 1. I think 50 qty of number 2.

It was my first foray back into collecting comics after a falling out with a friend that introduced me to collecting.

Thankfully they ended up being worth more than cover price...

@esaravo beautiful books and surprisingly, all but one is what I’ll be sending in for grading next year.

You have good taste!

Edit: I was referring to your Avengers slabs. You still have good taste, though!

Got these back yesterday, I'm very pleased with the TAT (just over 6 weeks), the grades and the look of the new cases. I'm not a seller so I don't do much grading but every so often I see something in my collection that deserves to be preserved. As @martymann likes to say: I'm the OO of these two beauties. Apologies for the poor photos, I get them scanned later.

Got these three back yesterday, only signed ones in my collection so far. Overall very happy, the first two I had simply tossed in a cardboard box with some other loose floppies and forgot about them until I helped clean out my parents house during a move. The last one is awesome, was my first ever signing I attended and Rob is an awesome guy who even sketched the trade I bought.

I honestly had no idea why @Martymann put the OO on his posts. For me it was always just a reminder to put on my reading glasses, lol.

After 27 weeks, these are finally home safe. The ASM 102 and TMNT 1 were pleasant surprises, the Special Edition was an unpleasant surprise. I’m pretty sure I checked for the poster, at least that’s what I’m telling myself. In May, when I put the order together, the TMNT was worth about $150, now... Huge shout out to former boardie ConditionFreak, who gave me the TMNT for nothing. He was a condition freak

Just got these back from the Mail-In signing from July. Originally I had a different cover than the Red Sonja one planned, but when it was delayed by USPS, I found that one at my LCS. Glad I did; it’s awesome.

Submitted for the CRYSTALCLEAR promo. Was a PGX 9.8 white pages to a 9.6 with ow/w pages. That was only the 2nd PGX-graded comic I bought. Most likely the last, as both have dropped when resubmitted.

@Studley_Dudley, the pages aren’t as white but good bye yellow inner well. I guarantee that book looks better than it did.

Finally got my July signing books back. I was expecting a 9.8 for the Mattina Variant but wasn't sure if I would get it. The regular cover I was hoping for a 9.8 but was almost expecting a 9.6. Crossing my fingers worked. The Mighty Thor 700 Inhyuk Lee variant. Yeah, that was a huge disappointment. There are a couple of spots of color scuffing on the back cover that I missed when I was looking at it. That was my fault for not picking up on it. I learned a lot more of what to look for in the future, though.

Here are some books I just got back today...

First one up was a pleasant surprise for me. I never thought it would grade this high. I bought this off a spinner rack at a Brooks Pharmacy back in 1979. It came in one of those old three comics for buck poly bags. I must have read it a 100 times! I figured it would be a 5.5 at best, but after a press, got a 7.5. As one of my original books, it holds a sentimental value....

Here's another book I had when I was kid. Unfortunately, my original copy is a mess, since I traced over the cover! I bought this a few years ago as an upgrade. I still have my old beat up original copy too! Moon Knight is another one of my favs....

Finally we have the surprise of the day....bought this at an old local comic shop the day of its release. Read a few times, but after a press I managed a 9.8 out of it! Makes me want to get my X-Men 266 graded to see if I can match the grade.

My son got some stuff back too, I'll post those at a later time.

And here are the three my son got back....he was most pleased with the Thor, which was another yard sale book, and disappointed with the Antman, which he says is better then a 6.5! The Nova is yet another yard sale find....

I must say, I was surprised by the Thor myself, as it has three spine dings, one of which is very visible as it is in the black ink of the cloak.

@Trespa68, I really don't know what it is to find a comic book at a yard sale cause everyone around here mostly sells clothes and the county has silly rules about how many yard sales you can have a year, I think it's 3. My comic book store has silver and bronze age books I would buy if they were reasonable but they are at least double FMV many times triple or more FMV. I bought the same books here off of boardies for a much more reasonable price. Thanks for sharing your collection, I also enjoy the accompanying stories.

Sportshort, we are lucky here, we have a guy right down the street from us that does house attic cleaning for a living. When he has collected enough stuff he has huge yard sales, perhaps four or five a year. Sometimes we get lucky and he gets some comics or other cool stuff. My wife once found me an original Dungeon & Dragons box set there! Have to get there real early though, as all the dealers are there first thing taking all the good stuff.

Yard Sales in general are hit and miss. A lot of people at yard sales now ask retail collectors prices for their collectibles. Hard to find a beat up ASM #1 at a yard sale for 50 cents!!!

Yard sales are the final frontier for incredible finds at almost steals. I've obtained major keys over the years.
It is becoming harder and harder though every year as comic guys are realizing this is the place to go.
