Most of the Treasuries I see at shops and cons are in mid-grade condition or worse. They are fairly easy to damage (thin cardboard covers) and they aren’t the easiest things to store properly. Some of them are fairly expensive, like the Superman vs Spider-Man and Superman vs Ali. Since they damage so easily, high grade copies are hard to find, and they can command higher prices. I have seen some on eBay that are over $500, but I don’t know if they get those prices for them. (Feel free to make me an offer on any that I post.)

Almost all treasuries are reprints and very few grade above 7.5 to most people. Hence lower prices, generally.

Whitman imprint exists for most treasuries, but mostly DC books. If you have Whitman Marvel (with actual Whitman logos) then you have an almost rarity but few people really care, yet.

I at least have one. I would think mine would also be a bit higher grade as I only read them once and was very careful because of their size.

@esaravo,

I wonder if it is worth the trouble to grade them? I am interested in selling mine also with the exception of Superman VS Spider-man. I would be curious to know what you get for them and if it is/was worth it to have them graded?

Also, most of the Treasuries I have seen have that tanned/brown effect that is most notable on the inside covers. It must have to do with storage/environment, but the 2 I bought off of esaravo are fairly white with no discoloration.

@brysb, I have not opened those books in over 30+ years, I should check the interior covers to see if the tanning is there (probably is as i live in the desert and have stored them in my garage). Thanks

A lot of foreign edition comics are magazine sized or larger. These are all mine and they are slightly larger than a modern US magazine. They are all from Yugoslavia.

I added the smiley face.

@Jesse_O I wouldn't have thought that the communists would have allowed comics that didn't sing the praises of the proletariat.

@Studley_Dudley the history of comics being censored in other countries is fascinating!! If that's something of interest, I know Matthew Roybal has some interesting knowledge of it happening. South Africa, IIRC, was notorious for that.

Time to post a few more “giants.”

Beautiful horror cover by Nick Cardy - tough black cover.

I'm very partial to the Treauries that contain an original story. Most are reprints.
That said - the Rudolph in that condition is wowza!
