COME BACK! lol

anyone know any web sites similar to the now defunct Comic Book Database page?

I'm preparing my books for Convention season and I'm like.. uhhh now I'm actually going to have to work on finding out the info.

I had no way of knowing that 9.8 graded copies signed by Adam Hughes weren't what you were looking for. drchaos private msg quote post Address this user
Comic Database may be back with a new redesigned look.

Not sure yet.

Try My Comic Shop.

Even when I used comic database I still used MCS for modern vsriants because scrolling through the pictures was easier than guessing the variant from a list.

I use comicbookrealm.com and it has been great- you cannot export your lists unless you make a small donation, but it is the best way to keep a mobile copy of your database handy!!

@Gabriel85301 - do you just need an overall reference site? Or are you looking to track your collection/inventory?

If the first, agree with @Jesse_O, comics.org is a huge and thorough database. Not a great user interface, but we can look past that. These guys have worked hard to assemble a lot of data for the community.

If the latter, and with full disclosure I am heavily involved I recommend Nostomania. But here me out why...

* Nosto will let you track your entire collection - uncertified, CBCS, or even others we won't mention.
* It will keep your collection value up-to-date with pricing superior to the other guys. This is not easy, and we work hard to get it right. Other sites often only provide values for items frequently sold, or the values drift too far from reality. The other sites mentioned here are great, don't get me wrong, but our core pricing algorithm was written by a guy now doing machine learning at Google.

Remember what I said about User Interface for comics.org? Yeah... Nosto is not great either.
It's almost "The 1990s called, they want their site back". Working on Version 2.0 now behind scenes.

You don't have to pony up a dime - the Basic Account goes a long way. If you do want to pony up, $2.99 a
month will get you some nice bells and whistles - import/export, sales tracking to source, etc.

Apologies folks for the self-promo, but this is, IMHO of course, a decent option.

Just as an addendum to stuff said, i am working hard (in my off hours) to help the GCD comics.org to be more correct and link up foreigns with their U.S.A. counterparts. Adding what data i can, adding what covers i can.

Awesome @cyrano0521 - thanks for your efforts. One of the things I personally use it for is verification of the existence of variants, including foreigns. It's a great resource.

Well I for instance what I liked about CBD was that let's say for example, I saw on a convention site
that Ron Lim was attending the con. I'd type of his name and all his books that he has ever worked on pop'd up, it would say books he has written, ink'd, colored, was a cover artist on and so forth, and I could just go down the list and be like, well I got this book, I got that book, etc etc. and write those down to pull out of my collection. CDB made it easy because it would show images to his variants, a lot of site would say variants but not show the picture, or if he ink'd a page. Then I'd do another name and so forth, and then I'd take the list I've written down and go to my collection and pull those out.

I like to take OMNIBUS books and get them signed. So one person may have just ink'd a story, in that OMNIBUS but not done much, I'd still like to get them signed in there. Let's say I have Wolverine Omnibus, of Volume 2 which is a a 308 book run. If I knew certain inker's, interiors, cover artists worked on certain book somewhere in that run, say for instance 172.. that I'd want to make sure I get them to sign my omnibus. CDB just made it sooo much easier. I have a label machine and all the I get signed I put a label under the signature to identify who it is, which is work I do on my own but

I have a Captain Marvel OMNIBUS and I had at least 8 people who were in attendance at PHX Fan Fusion last year, who worked on a story in that book, some I didn't even know if I didn't have the info from CDB. It was fun talking with Joe Rubinstein about his Ms. Marvel vol. 1 #21 cover, when I originally only thought Dave Cockrum had worked on it, but it brought joy to Rubinstein to reminisce, also with Howard Chaykin and his work Marvel Team Up 77 , Michael Golden with Avengers Annual 10, which I had no idea they had done the pencils in those books.

I've got other Omnibus books so I'm just see'ing who I can fill in from those who are still around.

CBD was great for indexing characters also. I often used it to find covers of certain characters. But I agree, their creator information was top notch. I hope it does eventually come back.
