No more scratched sides!

They don’t look significantly different from the front. No new labels, I believe

@dielinfinite I'm assuming the books are mockup's to show the slab and not really graded since there is no seem through the label logo. Or have they changed that with the new slab? Do you know when these will be in circulation?

I read on Facebook that the new slabs should be rolling out in March.

Also, they’re apparently hoping for a 4th quarter launch for Magazine-Sized slabs!

CBCS says the new case is more tamper-evident so they are discontinuing the heat seal through the shield

Nice, but not really the announcement I think most were hoping for.

I just hope they’re not too much of a hassle to open the way CGC’s current slabs are.

I don't understand why they keep re-inventing the same wheel, especially when other services have been non-existent.

I saw these in person last con season, by chance, having a discussion with some CBCS people. They looked really good including being incredibly clear. It felt really solid as well. Just crystal clear clarity in a nice feeling robust slab. To everyone worried/complaining about what you "wanted" to hear about. Changing slab type is the first step in expanding their offerings. CGC used to use a very similar (actually, was it the same slab?) and switched for more flexibility. Coming soon will be more size availability I'm sure.

It's not about the size, it's how you use it!

I'm not really complaining, but it's like announcing a new Superman movie... with Lex Luthor as the villain.

The mold marks were unsightly and they could be worse than just scratches. My last order had one where it almost looked like a big chip had broken out of the slab.

It would make sense that CBCS would want to fix that issue and not pass it down to the Magazine-size holder. So they redesign the main holder and make the magazine size a version of the better one. It’s a shame that it took so long to get to this point but it’s progress at the very least

Exactly, and progress we needed to make before we could properly grow and bring you other cool announcements like Magazine size slabs. A lot of great stuff is ahead....

Are the new slabs the same size/thickness as the old slabs, or are we looking at CGC-levels of plastic?

Perhaps I'm in the minority here, but I really like the look of CBCS current labels. As for the magazine slabs, that's good news too, as I've got quite a list of graphic novels and magazines to submit.

As long as they don't go back to the rivet labels ... yikes... those made the old labels from the-company that-shall-not-be-named look good.

Same, my position is always that the label should be very subtle. The first thing you should see when you look at a slabbed comic is the COMIC. CBCS labels draw my eye to the comic. CGC labels basically scream "forget what's in the holder, look at meee!" with the bright colors and laughable fonts. It's the main reason I barely use (except magazine size) CGC any longer...and their new sig series plastic baggie thing that has lead to zero customer service at cons...and their questionable grading.

I’ve been waiting forever for them to change up the verified labels but I guess that isn’t happening, I really dislike the coloring.

I like them, too, with one exception. That color band at the top of each label is decorative and not necessary. Looks like a CGC emulation, who put verbiage in their top color band.

I do like CBCS labels though.

Funny, I was thinking the same about the WildC.A.T.S. But after seeing that the Cert # starts with 20-, I can confirm it is not mine.

No gap on the edge. Slab feels more sturdy in the hand.

How does the thickness compare to the old slabs? It’s difficult to see in the picture.
