WTB TOS 39 3.0-4.011005

Collector 00slim private msg quote post Address this user
Most of the more active users here may be aware, but I thought I’d make a separate post just to be safe.

I’m actively looking for a TOS 39 with the following criteria:

- Slabbed CGC or CBCS 3.0-4.0

- Universal grade with no caveats on the label (no detached cover, tape, etc).

- Off-White pages minimum

- Presents well.

I have (753) 100% positive feedback on e-bay.

Let me know if you’d like a reference or have one of these for sale.

its lower grade than what you want but thought I would let you know anyway, it's on a comic forum on Facebook. If you need more information from him let me know and I'll get it to you. Good luck. I'm thinking of selling my 7.0 tos39 to get more of a 4.5 and have cash to get another bigger grail. Still up in the air about it

Definitely interested. Could I get a pic of the back & a better shot at the front cover?

Does he have a reputation as a seller?

What FB groups do you recommend for books like this?

@00slim Search on Facebook for comic book forums, they are typically closed groups. Answer a couple of questions and normally approved by the administration in 24 hours. But there are plenty of groups you can find books here area few I belong to

There are also quite a few dealers on Instagram as well...in particular one I watch and like is Shortboxed, however they dont have a copy currently, already asked.

Got a response on the CGC board.

I can’t seem to get the notes to come up. Can you guys?

@00slim how much for that 4.0

He wants $6000.

Last CBCS 4.0 sold for $5800. So, not far off.

I was gonna offer $5500. Thoughts?

Mike pointed out the note about the cover being detached from the bottom staple.

I’m reconsidering my offer. Thinking I might pass.

I passed based on the cover being loose from one staple. I hate declining when someone is kind enough to respond with an offer. But since it was the top of my budget, I’d hate to feel like I was compromising.

just as a reference , I seem to notice a lot of copies of that book with lose covers ,or detached from staples, or centerfolds detached or lose at one staple....my own copy has the centerfold detached at one staple as well

So, should I consider that acceptable for this book?

Were it me hunting for a grail-type book, Id go with a lower grade without writing on the cover over a higher grade with the writing. That kinda thing really turns me off.

It's a lot of money so whatever you get, be 100% happy with it!

No Slim you determine what you are willing to accept for your copy, that's all yours to choose. ….I think my point is you might have a search finding a copy in 3.0-4.0 without either the centerfold or cover having some staple issues. I am sure they are out there, just that might be a hard combination to find in the wild so to speak

Its funny that the 1st book I got signed by Stan Lee was an Iron Man 1 and the last book I got signed by Stan was a TOS 39. I bought a TOS 3.0 for $3200, got it pressed and signed with a small bump to 3.5. GL with the hunt.

So, I’m considering looking for a presentable 2.0-2.5 as a placeholder and trading up when the opportunity arises.

Then, I could keep my favorite of the ASM books and still get a starter copy of TOS 39.

Given the tax thing now...I would follow the carpenters method...measure twice, cut once.....
TOS 39 has adjusted downward some since Endgame finished....it wont take long for that one to rebound and start moving upwards again.
Bought myself a low grade copy of TTA 27 once for 70 bucks thinking when I get a chance I will upgrade....I still have that ratty looking good or good plus copy cause once I had one, I never made it the priority to replace. I should have waited and bought a nicer copy , but then again whose to say I might not have one now...tough choices

I bring it up because there’s a presentable 2.0 on Heritage, that, if I could negotiate to $3k before taxes, I’d be ok with as a starter.

But if one of my bigger Spidey books sell (14 or 15) I’ll consider myself passed the point of no return.

Still looking. 👍🏼
