Sorry, mine isn't nearly as cool as all of yours, but it was my first ebay auction win, and purchase, from a couple weeks ago.

I had a raw copy in my collection a few months ago that I won on comicconnect and it was graded a 2.5 by CBCS. I was willing to part ways with it for the right price even though I love the cover and ended up selling it earlier this year. I got this much better looking copy tonight for a price I'm very pleased with.

@flanders Very nice!

I thought I was gonna have something to show off here tonight - a gorgeous copy of Planet Comics I've been drooling over since I first saw it. Unfortunately, real life intruded on me this evening. I put out the fire and logged on to bid just in time to see the final second tick off on the auction. And it sold for, well, a fair amount less than I was willing to pay.

I've missed out on plenty of auctions before, but this one left a particularly bad taste in my mouth.

@sportshort @CatCovers thanks for the compliments! Too bad you didn't get that comic, hopefully it shows up again sometime soon for a reasonable price.

Oh, man, I know that feeling. Was it eBay? I use MyiBidder now, most of the time, and it's been great for putting in eBay bids in advance. It snipes for you in the last 5 seconds (though I changed it to 4 seconds for mine, and 3 would probably work, too.)

Even if you don't care about sniping, it helps just for all the ones that you might forget, or can't be there for.

I get that feeling most Monday nights when I lay down exhausted and wake up realizing there's an MCS auction wrapping up.

I can honestly say that there is nothing for me in the auction for this Monday but the prime looks nice

I see a new slab and yellow label for this in the near future although the red does look good with the cover:

Yeah tonights MCS auction was rather hard to win anything...prices went high and bidding was rather heavy for some of the more common books that normally sell much cheaper...seemed odd

Everything I wanted over $100 went to high as did many other books.

When we buy comic books we are also selling dollars. And dollars aren't selling for what they used to. We could be seeing inflation everywhere but the low demand for Oil (and cheap transportation) has kept it in check in many places...for now. Precious metals and Collectibles are often a canary in the coal mine for predicting inflation. Every indication I get is that we should not be putting off large purchases like cars, equipment or remodeling.

@KatKomics I work in that industry and I can tell you I will not be surprised if our prices next year are 25% higher than right now. I've never seen anything like it in the last 10 years. Since the lockdown we are selling at about 2-3 times our ability to install, which means our backlog that fell to 2 weeks during the lock down is now approaching 10 weeks. And the supply is not reliable, suppliers have had to shut down temporarily for Covid 19 and installers may also have to stay home from time to time for health concerns.
