Also snagged these

Captain America 212 NM 9.4

Captain America 230 NM+ 9.6

Superman 229 FN/VF 7.0 (I usually don't buy books not in NM, but I really dig the cover.)

Supernatural Thrillers 6 VF/NM (Close enough to NM for a great piece)

I bid on a few auctions today, but only managed to knock this little guy off the want list for my ASM run.

A bidding war in the last 30 minutes got me to pay twice what I was planning to spend on this, my only purchase tonight at MCS. Even missing a "piece" inside it still got to $135. I wonder if it was someone here I was in the bidding war with?

Nice comic... I love EC... but I rarely bid enough to win one. I've never bid on MCS. I suppose I should check it out. I wonder if they hold shipping to allow saving on shipping charges for multiple items. Seems like Canada is halfway across the world based on shipping rates from the U.S.

@Caffeine_Kid MCS auctions run 7 days, they start and end every Monday night. You can wait up to 14 days so you can combine winnings from 3 auctions for shipping. This book was combined for shipping with a book that I won two weeks ago.

Every time I see a Twilight Zone cover it makes me think that I should be putting together a run for personal collection.

Thanks for the info. MCS probably doesn't charge exorbitant shipping like Heritage (where I've done most of my U.S. bidding. I've paid $300 for a book and it cost me $150 in shipping.)

Finally got the missing piece tonight at MCS auction to complete an X-men run of #49-#67. I believe the reprints start with number 68. Is "light residue" a good flaw as far as being able to clean and press?

I think the book has to be seen to really understand the comment. However, the wishful thinking mcs evokes is understandable.

Gratz on your book

Thank you. Unfortunately I think it may be one of the loosest graded books I've ever bought from MCS. They had it at 6.0, and just looking at all the stress lines I don't see how it grades above that. Probably explains why I got it for $60 less than two recent MCS 5.5's and even $60 less than a recent MCS 4.5.

@poka I think the high prices for some raws at MCS are based purely on pressing potential, by buyers who know what to look for. I think a few savvy buyers have realized that very few raw books at MCS have ever been pressed, and this benefits the seller at auction much more than if they put it at fixed price listing. Even for consignment items, it would be rare for someone to press a book and then send it straight to MCS without having it slabbed first. This particular book looks to have very little pressing potential...which explains why it sold for much less than recent sales of others graded lower.

Your right, the old team ends hanging with the Hulk in Las Vegas in issue 66. Pretty remarkable that somehow they chose to keep the series alive in reprints for 28 months and then give it a second chance. Never really thought about what a monumental decision that turned out to be for the entire comic book industry.

I won this one in an auction last week and it arrived yesterday. I am a big fan of George Perez, and had hoped to meet him at a convention someday. Unfortunately, Mr. Perez passed away in May, and I was never able to tell him how much I loved his work on the Avengers, Teen Titans, Wonder Woman, and so many other comics. When I saw this book available in an auction at a reasonable price, I had to have it (I hope the signature is real).
Thank you for all your contributions, Mr. Perez, RIP.
