If the viagra is working you should be well over a 9.8. xkonk private msg quote post Address this user
Anyone have guesses as to what happened here?

Same book, the MCS-graded 8.5 went for close to double the CGC graded 9.0. Even counting on MCS undergrading, that's a heck of a jump.

@xkonk - That 8.5 looked pretty good in the large-scale pictures. So at least a few people thought it would grade a couple of steps higher. The cream to off-white pages on the 9.0 also probably turned off a few potential buyers.

I have seen this happen quite often, where a lower graded raw sells for more than a slightly higher graded slab. What ever happened to a bird in the hand is worth more than two in the bush?

@xkonk - If one is a cgc fanboy, then it is obvious somebody reeeallly wanted the raw copy to read.
If one is a regular MCS customer, or a discerning bidder, you can see that the 8.5 raw copy has fewer flaws, better coloring, and likely much better page quality.

@esaravo - could it be that people are hip to overgrading by cgc and super tight grading by MCS?

Someone is banking that 8.5 (maybe with a press) will grade north of 9.2....also what @Scifinator and @esaravo said.

@GAC - if I were bidding on those I would definitely gambled that the raw would grade higher at CBCS compared to sending the cgc in to CBCS for crack & grade.

What @esaravo @Scifinator @GAC said is the only thing that makes sense, but it's a heck of a reach on the raw. The CGC 9.0 sold basically in line with gocollect and MCS data but the raw sold like a strong 9.4 (like a 9.5 if that existed). Two people bet a lot on those scans not hiding anything.

MCS is very trustworthy and I would have gambled as well up to a certain point. I definitely would have been eyeballing both listings and comparing them.

@poka nice. There's still 8 left in stock of the normal, non Deadpool variant. A bit pricey though

@drchaos looks like that Giant Size FF 4 is finally hitting it's stride. In years past I picked up 7 or 8 low to mid grade copies at conventions. I also picked up a CGC 8.0 from MCS back when I first joined the forum. Up until recently it's stuck out as one of my few spec books that didn't pan out.

I just received my Avengers 257 (first Nebula) in the mail today from an Ebay seller. I have to say I witnessed a miracle......

It arrived in a paper envelope (not a bubble mailer) in a mylar bag with no backboard, with a single piece of cardboard in the envelope for rigidity and on top of that the comic wasn't even taped to the cardboard.....it was just freely moving within the envelope........not only that but it was also shipped internationally from the US to Canada!

The miracle you ask? The comic was miraculously undamaged!!!!! It was the worst packaging job I have ever seen for a comic and I am still amazed it wasn't damaged. Feel like I should buy a lottery ticket or something lol.

Looks like a solid webstamp on the back candidate with that signature.

Comiclink doesn't show a back pic because they don't want everyone to know the graded book you bought has been baptized by their sticker.
