@KatKomics may I ask which auction(s) you use? I only know of one in Canada (Canuck) and would like to participate in others. I have bought comics from Heritage, but by the time they get to Canada the cost goes through the roof.

Thanks!

these were from Back to Past Collectibles - they do the auctions through ProxiBid.com. In the before times the auctions were both on-line and in-person. They are in Michigan

For Heritage I save up my wins and get like 2 or 3 shipments sent up per year.
Only thing that sucks is I just asked them to send about 4 months of wins (3 or 4 wins) and then I accidentally won something else!.....gonna be like another 4 to 6 months before I have it sent

With Heritage I figure I'm gonna get dinged on duties anyway so why not 'save' on shipping by waiting for a few wins to build up - their shipping is insanely expensive - can't wait for the border to open again - then I'll use my US mail service and just drive over to pick them up!

@KatComics thanks for letting me know. I wasn't aware Heritage would hold wins for an extended time. Good to know.

I am still on the hunt for another Canadian auction house. Canuck Auctions holds lots of comic auctions, and I can drive there to pick up my wins, but they don't provide any condition information so it's kind of a crap shoot.

I don’t buy a lot of graded books but I took a chance on an auction at the last minute and won this. I love promos and video games so a promo for a video fame really appealed to me. Currently the BIN listings for this book raw start at around $86 (no past sales that I could find) and go up from there. I won this graded copy for $22 shipped.

Next time I se a Dell’otto signature opp I might take the opportunity to switch it to a CBCS case

@xkonk No idea. I think it may be the title of the issue, obviously a reference to Marvel’s “Secret Wars.” I think it may be one of those indica oddities like that Batman #1 variant that always gets slabbed as “Batman Exhibit”

Went on a bit of a splurge for books for signing opportunities at an upcoming con, but I'm satisfied with the prices for sure!

The star wars books are all for PC so them being reprints doesn't bother me since that gives me 1-5 and all can be signed(some double sigs).

I have never purchased original art before, but this was an auction win, and here's why: My daughter was visiting me the other day and I happened to have a bunch of really beat-up old books sitting on the table. She stopped and asked me where I got the "Riverdale" comics, and I explained they were actually Archie comics. She then told me about a TV show called Riverdale, which, as we all know is the home of Archie, Betty, Jughead and the rest.
But she had no idea the show was based on a comic book. She was so excited she asked me if she could take all my Archie, of which I had just a handful. She called me two days later and said she was sharing them with all her friends (all these "girls" are young women ages 26-29) and explained they were all reading them and laughing and that the Riverdale TV characters were just like the comic books!
I was pleased she was pleased, so I found this artwork on Comic Connect and bought it today.I plan to find the Betty 37 comic and frame them together with an explanation of who Decarlo was and how his art influenced the ARchie comics. Longwinded validation for putting original art on the comic forum, but I am very excited to get this for my daughter.

Photo of finished framed art, The text above the comic explains who the artist was and that the art on top is original. She loved it

A self produced series Julie did back in the early 2000's featuring herself, her sister and many of her friends. Some signed versions are out there and will only get more pricey due to her sad passing earlier this year.

Nice addition to my own collection at least

I have a few of the other books from the series, but none were signed so this is a nice addition I think.

I used to write to Julie back in the nineties when she was really making a name for herself, and she was so thoughtful, and sincere.
I am glad you didn't puruse it and cost one of us alot more money....

Just won this tonight for less than Overstreet value. I wonder if it's possible to clean this cover? I don't know if it's a stain or what.

From 1943. May be my oldest comic so far.

@Caffeine_Kid Nice book! I would be very hesitant about trying for a higher grade. 8.0 is a nearly impossible grade on books of that age as it is. I don't think they dinged it much for that discoloring on the right side. If you get a chance, pick up a copy of Whiz Comics #21 while they are still priced reasonably. First appearance of the Lieutenants and it pre-dates the first appearance of Captain Marvel Jr. in Whiz comics #25. You won't be sorry.

@EbayMafia thanks for your comments. My intention in trying to fix the discoloring wasn't to get a higher grade, but to enhance the appearance.

I will keep an eye out for #21. Thanks for the tip!

Just got a complete run of MiracleMan from Eclipse, including the Apocrypha mini-series. They took a scenic tour around the US before making it here, and the auctioneer sent them via Media Mail. The box was literally about to fall apart but the insides were packged very well, thank goodness. They are mostly all 9.8 candidates. Unfortunately #23 is not a 9.8. Must be why its worth so much to get in that grade.
