Looks like maybe one or more of the inks used to print the page was low or out when this page went through, and their quality assurance measures didn't catch it.

It’s missing the K in the CMYK process from the looks of it.

You should fill in the bubbles with your own creative dialogue. Maybe that was the intention? Writer was off his game that month so they decided to leave it to the reader?

Thanks for the memory jog - they did that in an early ASM. As Spidey is swinging away from Dr Conners and family after he returned him unharmed after fighting him when he was freaking as the Lizard. The last panel on the last page had blank word bubbles and bottom note to fill in whatever you want True Believers. Stan Lee fun.

In traditional offset printing each color is separated out onto a different plate (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black), so it’s definitely a possibility. Though, as @manfred_spain stated above, it really should have been caught by QC at press.

If you want a “famous” example of this type of error, check out the copies of Solson Publication’s “How to Draw the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” #1 that were printed without any yellow.

Pretty sure it does not, I think they just become a type of variant...usually considered a good thing.

Yep, error issues are usually always more rare/valuable.

@Shanthark Does not affect the grade in 9.8, but it will not get a 9.9 or 10
