| @HeinzDad normally I don't have an issue with it. I tried a different seller this time so shame on me for not checking first. Thankfully 30th Century Comics is opening up for mail order in a day or two so that helps me out immensely. | ||

| guess watching the trimming debate I cant say I saw the images of the book that was offered before purchase, but if the seller gave nice sharp clear scans, then I think holding him responsible is a double standard actually , provided he in good faith was unaware of the trimming. The argument seems to be as a seller he should know and be aware if he has books that are trimmed, but a buyer would somehow be exempt from practicing necessary prudence and checking the scans for such as well? I seldom buy raw books except from the forum here, or MCS ...but if I were to go for anything very expensive, I would ask for high fidelity scans of the book which I could compare with other copies and check for color touch, trimming, and so forth. I think if you are buying comics that are not graded nor slabbed, you bear the burden equally to your seller to verify and examine said book and make sure it isn't altered...trimming can be spotted easily provided its the entire book... Again I did not see the scans nor description myself, so tough to say here but still... |

| Don't you just love it when an eBay seller lists those big words like 9.6?? So I just bought a 5 issue lot of Alpha Flight #1 (1983) listed as 9.6 for $41, good deal, right? NOT! All 5 issues had stress marks on spine & IMO would grade them around a 9.0/9.2. So...REFUND!!! Another eBay seller just last week sent me a whole box of goodies in NM...& they were, until he shipped them in a box that was too tight fitting and no room for proper packing materials, so...all had dented corners! So sad because I wanted these so bad, the price was right and they were perfection before improper shipping.  Again...REFUND!!!And then a couple of days ago another eBay seller sent me 5 comics listed as NM for $30, but had way too many imperfections to even name! So again, REFUND!!! This seems to be the month for me to return everything to eBay sellers. I have one more eBay package in transit, fingers crossed here!  My advise...ONLY buy from an eBay seller if clear front and back picture of comic are provided. Sadly, even then that can be deceptive as some doctor up the images. View positive feedback as well, but then again, doesn't always mean anything. The thing about negative feedback is that the Seller & Buyer do not want any, so... even if the buyer has a bad experience, as long as the seller refunds/accepts returns you most likely will not see a negative comment posted. I think some of these sellers thrive on some buyers sucking it up and just accepting the crap that they send out, hence leaving positive feedback just to keep the peace. Some of the WORST eBay experiences I have had are those with 100% positive feedback!! So, YEAH!  |

| The ONLY way around this is if eBay had a policy that the seller immediately (WAS REQUIRED) posted a POSITIVE response when the Buyer paid for item...then, if the Seller had issues after the fact they would feel comfortable leaving neutral/negative responses without backlash/fear of negative responses on the part of the seller. The way it works now is that it is close to blackmail, YOU either leave positive feedaback for me or I will leave NEGATIVE for you! |

| Most of the time I find that as the buyer I normally make the 1st comment (positive or otherwise) & then the seller comments afterwords...this should NOT be common practice IMO! Is it any wonder that some sellers have such a high rating when they actually SUCK!?? | ||

| I don't leave feedback for buyers until it has been left for me. It's not like I'm holding the feedback hostage, but if I receive feedback then I consider it a successful conclusion to the transaction. As a buyer, I leave feedback pretty much instantaneously and utilize the star ratings as well. I've only left one negative for a seller since I've used ebay. I left negative feedback for non paying bidders on ebay way back in the day when that was still a thing. | ||

| As a seller, I've been waiting until the item is delivered to leave feedback. I feel like I had a reason when I started doing it but it escapes me now. As a buyer I leave feedback after I open the item and see that it looks right. |

| My store subscription just renewed, but I really don't have a desire to keep doing it. It's a hobby for me, and not a primary or even secondary source of income for me. I just do it to help get a little extra hobby money, but I find between the prep work of grading, scanning, listing to the sale end of packing things up and going to the post office, it isn't worth that much to me. Maybe keep some slabs on there but take the four long boxes to the LCS to see if I can get some trade value. | ||

| @EbaySeller I had mine up there but I figured I'd send it off to MCS with some other stuff. I like the idea of paying 8-10% commission instead of the 13% between paypal and ebay and not having to pay for shipping supplies. | ||

| Last night on Ebay my son finds a pair of shoes that he wants for $35 w/free shipping, normal retail is $120. After purchase seller sends a note that we live 30 minutes apart and should arrange for local pickup. No problem, we drive out to his work today and get the shoes, brand new,beautiful with tags and stickers, no box. Given where I went to pick them up and the guy I got them from, it starts to dawn on me that these shoes (golf shoes!) may very well have been a result of the previous weekends riots and looting. My son and I figure we should make a T-shirt that says "They looted my city and all I got was 70% off on Ebay!" | ||

| Not an Ebay thing, but here's an experience this week that left me feeling a little silly. On Tuesday I bought an ASM 299 CGC 9.6 on MCS. The following day my DC Presents 26 CGC 9.4 sold on MCS for my asking price. After sales tax and buyer and seller fees the net difference was $30 coming my way. There is no way that, if given the opportunity, I would have exchanged a DC Presents 26 9.4 for an ASM 299 9.6 plus $30. But somehow that's exactly what happened. Without sales tax and 3rd party fees the difference would have been $65, which makes more sense. That $35 difference is basically 20% of the average value of the two books. I need to do a better job of buying, selling and exchanging directly to avoid those 3rd party fees and taxes. | ||
