@BrianGreensnips

I emailed them twice through Ebay mail, repeating USPS request with screenshots of the USPS asking for directions on how to proceed. I also asked them if I could help in any way.

Update. The person finally emailed back. They weren't aware of delivery attempt. Apparently they missed my first email as well. They are going to post office today and hopefully that ends this transaction.

Thanks, @Studley_Dudley. Definitely a good point. FYI, this was an exchange purchase ($139.99), not an auction bid. I rounded up, but that made it look like an auction price.

Man, sometimes mailing stuff can be stressful, not knowing what is going on, not being able to take any action. I'm glad this one worked out (it seems)!

I sold a Lego set on eBay weeks ago. Well, four sets to four different people. One got stuck in New Jersey for WEEKS. It arrived at the "regional facility" in Newark on April 17th, then was marked "in transit to next facility" since then. I even had USPS put a trace on it at one point. After a week, the guy actually called me to tell me he had to close the ticket. He said it's there in the facility, but they are just so backed up, there are piles and piles of boxes, waiting to move out. A combination of more people mailing stuff and fewer workers, plus all the extra precautions they have to take.

Anyway, it finally got checked in at the next facility (in Kearny, NJ) yesterday, and it's "out for delivery" today. Here's hoping the box has survived largely intact.

Anyone ever deal with planetcomicsgvsc on eBay? They say they are a physical store in Greenville, SC. They have a picture of a book that they had 3 in stock of, one sold. They describe it as near mint and I'd have to agree with that from the one photo of the cover they show. My concern is the fact that there are multiples of the book. If you have dealt with them, how were they to deal with? Accurate grading? Good packaging? Etc....

Aha, this helps explain things, and I think it's a region by region issue. Some regions are moving fine, but on parts of the east coast I've had shipments get held up in the same facility for a week or more.

Now why would a top rated seller with over 12,000 feedback want to put their reputation on the line calling this NM?

Once I see that, I have no interest in looking at their other items.

I clicked out of curiosity. It turns out their majority of items sold are not comics.

Yeah, they really muffed that one. Some of the other grades are ... well, closer.

If they come from a bookseller's tradition, comic book grades may not be intuitive for them. Fine is the highest grade in books (other than "As new". And the industry is more forgiving of defects on books than we are on comics.

You figure, each hobby has it's own jargon and idiosyncrasies. Although you hope a seller does due diligence by learning the basics, sometimes it's not so easy.

That's why personally I rarely ever buy raw books. I'd rather pay a bit more for a "sure thing".

Sorry you have to click on the link, but the colors on this Mexican X-men 109 are pretty awesome. Also note the heads of the x-men in the upper left corner. The language translation only very loosely fits the English language cover.
I'm very tempted to buy it just for display even though the condition is terrible and I have no place to display comics.

I just thought about it this yesterday from when I was doing a little bit of selling on ebay back in the early to mid 2000s. I haven't seen it as an option but does ebay frown on a seller still receiving money orders/checks/cash as a form of payment? I mean, once the buyer would click buy it now or request an invoice, then I could put in a mailing address for a payment right?

The white cover on the upper right, 185 I believe, is pretty rare. Aside from a low print run it’s a variant I believe? Correct me if I’m wrong. My Lcs had one for 85 bucks forever, which I wouldn’t pay. One weekend he had a sale so I went in to get it, someone else bought it an hour before.

Well, the seller did include a lot of pictures.

Make him an offer. As the description says: DO NOT miss your chance on this item.

So yesterday, I got wind of a comic that might be heating up. Supposedly they are going to be adding this character in a Marvel movie. So I thought I'd just cruise ebay and see if I can find one on the cheap.

I found one store with a stock image selling multiples listed as near mint at the price of $3.99 plus $3.39 shipping. Others had already begun marking up their books, so I decided to buy one. That was the third one they had sold in the hour.

Today I got an email from them saying it was damaged so they refunded my money. I replied that they had multiples yesterday and that I might still be interested in it at their asking price even though it may be damaged. I asked them to send me a picture of the damaged comic.

Personally, I think they realized the book got hot, canceled all the sold copies and will relist the comic at a higher price, possibly through a second account. If they reply with anything less than a picture of the damaged comic, I will out them here.

So, a week or two ago I bought one of those Marvel Comics #1000 D23 Expo covers. It's a great cover, very limited, and completely ridiculous, price-wise. So I decided to buy a couple, get them slabbed, and sell them. This cover just seems to keep going up in price.

I received a standard Priority Mail box that was pretty crushed in the middle. Well, no reason to worry yet ... let's see what's inside.

Inside was about 2-3 inches of bubble wrap - enough to make it a snug fit in the box. And inside that was a sandwich of two pieces of cardboard, with the comic (bagged and boarded) inside. I pulled it out and it looked great. Then I took it out of the plastic and saw a dent. Ug. Looks like it got dented after all when the box was caved in.

So, a lesson to us all ... all the bubble wrap in the world won't save you if the bubble wrap itself just bends the comic, due to a crushed box. And two thin pieces of cardboard isn't enough to stop that. Especially on a prestige format squarebound, that doesn't have any play in the spine.

Here are pics, of the book and the box. In the first one I angled it to catch the light where it is bent; for the second one I angled it to catch a shadow:

I'm more convinced than ever that some people are motivated to purchase simply because you give them the power to negotiate price. On MCS I typically reduce my asking price about 5% every 30 days for books that aren't moving. A few times, after reaching my bottom price I've raised the price by 25-35% and activated the "make offer" option. In almost every case I sold the books (fairly quickly) for more than lowest price that I had previously offered.

Nice share. Notice the grain of the cardboard is the same on both pieces. I wonder if having both pieces perpendicular to each other would have prevented this. After all the cardboard is bound to flex along that corrugation line.

Certainly, he needed thicker, stronger cardboard. On something like this, I usually put the comic in a gemini mailer, and THEN wrap it in bubble wrap and put it in a priority mail box.

The seller did agree to refund half the purchase price. It's just a damn shame, because the part on the binding can't be pressed out, and it was perfect before he mailed it.

eBay seller: comics_ink

sold me Worlds Finest 88 (Oct 2019).
sent to CBCS for encapsulation.
came back as Trimmed.
notified seller; he stated he doesn't check/doesn't know about Restoration/Trimming. he offered me $60 in store credit (50% of what I paid for the book).
I Declined store credit because he doesn't do/know about Restoration checks/Trimming so it's possible I'd receive another Restored/Trimmed book.
I did say I'd accept a $60 partial refund (not the ideal solution to me but better than nothing).
End of communication from comics_ink.

What do you guys think here? Am I wrong?

I never intentionally buy Restored/Trimmed books. Had I known this book was either of those things I would not have bought it.
