This seller seems to think most of his CBCS 9.8s are 10s and doesn't hold back on letting you know about it:

There's a few I've found recently with pretty nicely priced books, uncanny_stash being the main one. They have a lot of modern graded 9.8s but also some older books. I think right now they have some older xmen...I've seen AMS and avengers and FF as well.

Bought I think 4 or 5 slabs from them now, all at great prices. They were shipped quickly and packaged well.

Edit : also, walkin_willie. Slabs all seem priced nicely and free shipping - and for those who prefer cbcs slabs, from what I've seen has all cbcs slabs for sale, and I've seen a few so far at 9.9-10.

I bought a few books from uncanny_stash years back. They tended to be overgraded. Not egregiously, but enough that it turned me off. Happy to hear that they do slabs now.

I had no way of knowing that 9.8 graded copies signed by Adam Hughes weren't what you were looking for. drchaos private msg quote post Address this user
Had a new issue as a seller that I do not remember seeing in the past.

Yesterday, an overseas buyer purchased two items from my store.

When I tried to combine the items to ship in one box with one shipping label the button to combine was greyed out.

I had customer service call me a few minutes ago and they explained that combining the shipment was not allowed under the global shipping program.

I do not know if this is a change in the program or if it only applies to buyers in certain countries.

The obvious uptake on this one is that international buyers can not save on shipping by buying multiple items.

As it is already expensive to have ebay purchased sent from out of the country these buyers will not want to pay much if each item has to be sent in a separate box.

Is this new or has it always been this way?

@drchaos It's been that way for a few years. I used to add in my listings that foreign buyers should contact me first then I would make listing with the items at the agreed upon price for them because of the problems with combining shipping under the GSP.

@drchaos - Corey, I had a similar problem with an eBay seller in England. I won a SA ASM book in an auction, and asked the seller if he had any X-Men that he might want to sell. He said he had a few, and I agreed to add one of them to my purchase. He posted the book on eBay, accepted my offer on it, and then when I tried to pay, eBay wanted to charge me like another $27 in shipping charges, even though the two items would have been shipped together. He ended up canceling that sale, and I just ended up with the original book. Sucks, because the whole point was to include another book or two to save on shipping.

@drchaos sometimes I get this when trying to purchase books but I click the request total from the seller - would that help in this situation?

Normally ebay wants to double or triple the shipping but when I request the total the seller is able to adjust down

For local sales in the US, this works. But GSP sales it doesn't. If you try to send an invoice it usually says something like "Invoicing for global sales has been delivered already".

All I could do before was refund the buyer most of the shipping he paid me for a second item or something, but I couldn't get him his money back from eBay for the customs, etc.. stuff that he had to pay them. It's not a great system as far as shipping costs go, but it does make it easier on the seller to just get stuff overseas because of the the whole "once it gets to KY you're off the hook" thing.

So if a buyer asks first I suppose I could put the items into one listing.

As the seller I am just not used to seeing what international buyers encounter with the global shipping program.

From my end it sure does make life easier.

Thanks for the input.

As an international buyer, I can say that the GSP is almost a non-starter for me. I understand why sellers in the US would want it but it's a big roadblock for international buyers.

This is on MCS not Ebay but it seems like the best thread for this. Venom #26 going at auction for $71 when there are plenty of 9.8's for less than $45 available. I wish someone this careless would buy one of my three copies for that much.

In other news, I plan on leaving the house for more than a few hours for the first time since 2019 and noticed that Ebay now gives the option to provide an away message. Previously, I believe this only applied if you had a paid store subscription:

I used the away from ebay for the first couple of weeks of my foot surgery. They limit it to 30 days, it was a better option than canceling and relisting a bunch of items.

Wow, what a tool! Sometimes posting only a single cover photo (at an angle) of numerous supposedly high grade key SA books, he has many listed at 9.6 or even 9.8 - so the rarest and best existing copies for these issues - but all ungraded. That should be a warning flag right there, as the difference in a 9.4 or a 9.6 could be thousands of dollars. Then when you read the description, it says “minor color touch” or something about a married cover, etc. Worse part is, most books have numerous people watching them. Stay far away.

Question. Has anyone ever shipped to a freight forwarder in ebay?

I have a buyer that apparently is from another country using a freight forwarder in Portland. (I Googled his mailing address) He has great feedback and has bought big ticket items in addition to smaller stuff.

I don't know if it's the same thing exactly, but I had someone who was going to buy using the international shipping. He didn't want to wait for that and apparently had some kind of mail service set up in Florida, so he changed his eBay address to that. I shipped there instead of the eBay hub in Kentucky. It all worked out fine.
