Pretty much, yeah. I've used it a few times when I've been shipping multiple packages at the same time and can't make it to the post office. I've had my carrier not pick it up before though, so there can be some error in the request getting passed along properly.

3) Consumers are now used to companies like Amazon and Wal-Mart shipping items quickly. Generally, there aren't delays in shipping items for days and days.
4) Consumers are now used to companies like Amazon and Wal-Mart providing tracking data quickly. When items ship from their warehouses it is scanned into the USPS/FedEx/UPS/DHL systems and it updates.
5) The contract is between the shipper and the shipping company. It is poor customer service to advise a buyer that they need to contact the shipping company to start a case or a trace on a package.

I love eBay. I have a guitar on the way to my house as I am writing this that I purchased. Looking forward to it arriving. So far, the seller has performed beyond my expectations. They shipped it the next business day and provided the tracking information on it. I can see where it is and that it shipped. My impression so far is that they are a solid seller. I hope that doesn't change.

The vast majority of my purchases have occurred with no issues. That being said, the times I've had problems it has been mostly due to poor customer service after I inquire about shipping times, an item damaged in shipping, or an item being lost.

When I get resistance from a seller, no response after several attempts, or they are rude I automatically leave negative feedback. It is amazing how quickly a seller suddenly wants to provide a solution to my situation after that happens. It solved my issue with spending time on the phone with eBay attempting to get them involved correcting whatever was wrong. Sellers seem to step it up and provide a level of customer service to "fix" my problem. They'll even start a case with USPS if a package stopped moving for 10 to 14 days. In other words, they provide the same level of customer service that other on-line retailers I deal with will provide. I'm not asking for them to go beyond that.

Oh, and I could care less if someone I purchased something from puts me on their blocked bidder list. If I had an issue with them, then I'm not going to buy from them again. Thus, I will never know they did it. It has zero effect on me as a buyer.

If you are having issues with shipping then use a program like ShipStation. It does all the heavy lifting for you as a seller. It emails buyers, it prints labels at lower shipping costs, it informs both eBay and Paypal that you shipped and puts the tracking information in their system. Also, it prints 1 main scan page for all your packages. Once that is scanned then all the packages are entered into the shippers system. Cuts down on wait times at the Post Office or UPS or FedEx.

(No, I'm not providing my eBay account name to the anyone that will chime in asking for it).

I agree. I am seriously thinking of stop selling slabs via ebay. Just had to refund a buyer (well buyer opened a case and ebay settled within his favour within 30 min) - because the package is last shown in chicago with no tracking update since May 22nd.

Question. Do people get a lot of folks saying book was damaged in transit? I double box my books and this is the 2 time.

1st time it was obviously a hammer. This time I dunno. I'm giving the guy the benefit of the doubt, but was curious if this is something widespread that sellers need to be aware of.

@Bronte Is this the same buyer who gave you grief from the start? Is he claiming damage to the book?

No. Different guy.

The guy who gave me grief gave me a glowing recommendation

Edit

Told the guy to just return tbe book. If it's going to be pressed and regraded, it might as well be me who does it.

@Bronte Possible it's just coincidence. But I don't remember any damage complaints from customers and I never double box. In my experience, bad behavior tends to escalate exponentially once people realize there are no consequences. Ebay could be reaching that tipping point where it's become a magnet for every type of scammer or malignant personality in the marketplace. Costco used to offer an unlimited hassle-free return policy. I pointed out to a friend that it can't last, eventually word will get out and it will attract the wrong type of customer. The person who wants to replace their computer or TV every year for free by abusing the policy. Of course it didn't last because that's exactly what happened. I kind of feel like Ebay has incubated that same culture.

@EbayMafia

We shall see. Worst case scenario I submit for a press and regrade. The book had never been pressed so there is a possibility of a higher return.

Not that I've made a ton of sales, but I've only had one person say they received damaged books. They were raw, he send pictures that seemed reasonable, and I refunded him. Never had an issue with graded books that I've sold.

In general though, I have to say that all the eBay seller complaints are working on me. I might have to go strictly LCS and MCS in the future.

I'm going to sell a few things on Ebay but it's going to be higher dollar stuff to justify the shipping cost. Shipping will be $40 and it will be Registered mail only in a flat rate box. I think it will greatly reduce the chances of nonsense and foul play. I think it was said here on the forum that an incident with Registered Mail will automatically trigger an investigation.

@EbayMafia

It was my understanding you can't use a flat rate box with registered mail. I think you need a regular box and they tape it with brown paper tape. At least that's how it was with my experience with coins.....

Wasn't a problem for me. I used the flat rate as it's slightly larger than the regular medium priority box and I was shipping a magazine size Turtles 1. I bought my own roll of Paper Tape. The width of the Paper Tape is 3 inches. Although men think it's 4 and women think it's 2.

I think the rules may have changed. It was 3 line items, Flat Rate + Registered + Insurance. I don't think the computer system would have allowed that combo if it were not supposed to happen.

I was window shopping on eBay and ran across this listing. $229 shipped for a supposed 9.4. I felt it deserved a spot on this thread. Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful book, but I think if you want premium prices on a book, get it professionally graded. Plus, I doubt this would get a 9.4 anywhere except for PGX.

Ebay listing

Your right, even if it were a 9.4, A book that has had the money and time invested in a 3rd party grade verification is more valuable than one that has not.
The Orange backer is actually a really nice touch though for displaying that book. It definitely caught my eye.

MHC wanting $31.80 + $4.95 shipping "Buy it Now" for Maximum Security Dangerous Planet!??

How exactly did they decide that $31 wasn't enough, but $32 was too high...so $31.80 was the perfect asking price??

I saw this listing for Mister Miracle #4, a comic I'm interested in buying. The picture is ridiculous, so I wanted to contact the seller to ask for a better picture. The automated answer from Ebay was something like "this seller is too busy to answer questions". I have decided I am too busy to ever look at this person's listings ever again. Now I have to figure out how to block this seller.

Looking at his inventory it seems that this is a Used Book Store guy. Probably not a good one to be buying comic books from.
Looking through his feedback, my eye was caught by the title of this book that somebody purchased:
Dominated By My Wife; Brandon's Extreme Diaper Punishment

Yeah, I wouldn't even bother with that one. I don't think the picture is even a picture of the actual book being sold, but a stock image of some sort.

Oh Mile High. How you've fallen even further into less than mediocrity. I still used MHC up until about a year ago. Filling runs was fairly inexpensive (cheap still wouldn't be the right word) with any of the various 40%-60% off "codewords". Once the boom happened, their prices went even higher somehow. While I generally don't buy much from MHC, I don't understand how Chuck keeps it going. I filled my Alpha Flight, Excalibur, various mini series, X-Men series runs all in the last few years. Now, I wouldn't even attempt to order from them.
