@brysb I've heard the terms Frankenslab and creep engine thrown around a few times to describe CGC slabs of different time periods that cause damage to comics. Maybe someone here knows more about this and the specific time periods for which they were most problematic.

That isn't one of the creep engine slabs. The label is older. That's probably Shaken Comic Syndrome (SCS).

Does that look like microchamber paper coming out or is that a seriously miscut cover? I want to say it is the MC paper. Trying to determine if I want to get involved in this auction.

I want to say MC paper too, but wouldn't you see it in the second image of the back? Probably not much help, but appears to be a beauty.

Less than 2 minutes after purchase. Your shipping is triple that of everyone else. Do you double box. I send him picture of receipt for shipping of 40.xx when I charged 35.00.

I ship day of purchase at 3pm. Email him its off. Less than 1.5 days later tracking is not active yet. I tell him I'll open a tracking by usps and email him the results.

This guy has over 1k feedback, surely you would think that no package is going to get to you in Less than 2 days via the post office.

My brother said I should have canceled the order after the first accusing email.

Sigh....

Edit

I did open a case with usps and I emailed him screenshots of uspa receipt of requesr

Edit
Apparently my opening a case is not good enough. He said that shows him nothing.

Apparently it's not good enough.

I emailed him the following.

It shows I created the label. And usps hasn't scanned it yet. I dropped off package to usps at their drop off counter. I did not hand the package to them literally.

If you look at my feedback, I've never had issues with shipping. Usually it arrives without issue.

If you have been doing this for 20 years, surely you know the usps is not flawless especially now.

You make it sound like I'm trying to rip you off. If you feel that is the case. Please open a case with ebay and they will tell you waiting less than 48 hours before is irrational. Especially since I have it listed as 3 days before shipping. (I literally shipped same day)

I tried to open a case with usps and I've answered all your emails to the best of my ability.

Please tell me what would make you happy at this point?

To be blunt, at this point I would like you to refuse shipment when it arrives and I'll refund your money.

@Bronte It sounds like he's setting the table to ask for some kind of discount. If it escalates, maybe consider something along the lines of:
"You started complaining 2 minutes after purchase. this all seems fairly premeditated, I'm glad we have it all in writing. I'm considering adding you to the Blocked Ebay members list on both the CGC and CBCS forums."

no problem i will wait , when i ship i always get a receipt at usps , so my buyers know and they can follow // i see the 100% feedback/ were good

I want to tell him to refuse the book anyways. He is a serious asshole.

@Bronte this is exactly why I hate eBay and will never use it to sell books that of any real value. If I can't stand to lose the book or money, it doesn't go one eBay.

If this was me and it was a low value book...I'd refund him and block him just so I don't have to deal with such idiocy.

When this is over (or even niw), I'd like this guys eBay name to block him.

I'm blocking him when all is over.

As for selling on eBay, I'm not financially able to sustain myself without some sales from ebay. Selling on forums is hit or miss on large value books, so I don't have much choice.

As fate would have it, I just got an update saying the package is in new york. His state of residence. Told him to check the tracking now.

I'll post his name after I'm sure this is over.

I'd still block after that aggressive showing. Unfortunately I stand in line at the post office now. I need that acceptance scan because it has been hit and miss with the USPS when just using the drop boxes. Too many shallow and pedantic buyers who get mad when they think I haven't sent anything.

@Bronte if you have a printer and a digital scale, you can buy and print your own label at your home. Then you also should have the option of having the mailman pick it up at your residence. I did that a few times when I shipped comics while living in an apartment.

I think too many sellers on eBay forget the following

1) Consumers are now used to companies like Amazon and Wal-Mart shipping items for free.
2) Consumers are now used to companies like Amazon and Wal-Mart allowing any type of return for any reason.
3) Consumers are now used to companies like Amazon and Wal-Mart shipping items quickly. Generally, there aren't delays in shipping items for days and days.
4) Consumers are now used to companies like Amazon and Wal-Mart providing tracking data quickly. When items ship from their warehouses it is scanned into the USPS/FedEx/UPS/DHL systems and it updates.
5) The contract is between the shipper and the shipping company. It is poor customer service to advise a buyer that they need to contact the shipping company to start a case or a trace on a package.

I love eBay. I have a guitar on the way to my house as I am writing this that I purchased. Looking forward to it arriving. So far, the seller has performed beyond my expectations. They shipped it the next business day and provided the tracking information on it. I can see where it is and that it shipped. My impression so far is that they are a solid seller. I hope that doesn't change.

The vast majority of my purchases have occurred with no issues. That being said, the times I've had problems it has been mostly due to poor customer service after I inquire about shipping times, an item damaged in shipping, or an item being lost.

When I get resistance from a seller, no response after several attempts, or they are rude I automatically leave negative feedback. It is amazing how quickly a seller suddenly wants to provide a solution to my situation after that happens. It solved my issue with spending time on the phone with eBay attempting to get them involved correcting whatever was wrong. Sellers seem to step it up and provide a level of customer service to "fix" my problem. They'll even start a case with USPS if a package stopped moving for 10 to 14 days. In other words, they provide the same level of customer service that other on-line retailers I deal with will provide. I'm not asking for them to go beyond that.

Oh, and I could care less if someone I purchased something from puts me on their blocked bidder list. If I had an issue with them, then I'm not going to buy from them again. Thus, I will never know they did it. It has zero effect on me as a buyer.

If you are having issues with shipping then use a program like ShipStation. It does all the heavy lifting for you as a seller. It emails buyers, it prints labels at lower shipping costs, it informs both eBay and Paypal that you shipped and puts the tracking information in their system. Also, it prints 1 main scan page for all your packages. Once that is scanned then all the packages are entered into the shippers system. Cuts down on wait times at the Post Office or UPS or FedEx.

(No, I'm not providing my eBay account name to the anyone that will chime in asking for it).

@brysb

I was nothing but polite to this guy. But I think towmaster has a point. He expected the world on a silver platter. Even though I provided the best service I could he still felt slighted. I even opened a claim with USPS knowing that it hasn't been 2 days. When they called, I apologized because I had an irate customer. He understood, but I felt like a jack ass. I am not jumping through hoops again for this guy. Truth be told if I didn't need the funds, I would ask him to return the book because I don't want any part of me dealing with such a person.

In my work these things are what I refer to as "Post-Contract Demands". Meaning that if a customer has abnormal expectations and demands, they need to let me know ahead of time so that I can factor in the extra work and charge them for that Concierge level service. Once the deal is done, there's no making unusual demands that go above and beyond the agreement...they didn't pay for that right.

I wouldn't block him either. I think your bold response turned him. If he leaves positive feedback, you're good to go. In fact he may be someone that you communicate with directly next year when the new IRS reporting rules have you looking to sell big dollar books outside of the online platforms.

Pretty much, yeah. I've used it a few times when I've been shipping multiple packages at the same time and can't make it to the post office. I've had my carrier not pick it up before though, so there can be some error in the request getting passed along properly.

I agree. I am seriously thinking of stop selling slabs via ebay. Just had to refund a buyer (well buyer opened a case and ebay settled within his favour within 30 min) - because the package is last shown in chicago with no tracking update since May 22nd.
