Speaking of way over FMV... https://www.ebay.com/itm/Amazing-Spiderman-Annual-16-1982-VF-NM-1st-App-Of-Monica-Rambeau-Newsstand-/383924353674?nordt=true&nma=true&si=JK9sNnKfj6%252FYqyoYH%252F4KlWXy%252BlQ%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

That seems ludicrous

Every time I click on one of these Ebay links I get an E-mail the next day that says "We're going to help you get what you want" and offers me similar items.

3 retracted bids in 10 day auction. Possible 4th was emailed to me but he wasn't winning as of yet. What happened to reading description before you hit enter?

I sincerely hope the finalist doesn't flake out....

@esavaro, here's an opportunity for you: Signed by Eastman and Laird, and personalized "To Ed". Unverified writing has probably knocked the grade down pretty good. Seriously, if you or any other Ed has interest I can put you in direct contact with the seller. I just bought all those books from them yesterday:

On the general profile page, the seller has over 1000 feedback with a little red star and 100% positive. Great! If I actually click on the feedback, only 10 of those are in the past year and there's a giant laundry list of "never shipped" negative feedback comments. Faaaaaantastic.

For the curious: https://www.ebay.com/usr/tripeaks307

In case anyone needs closure on this story - I waited until after eBay's estimated delivery date and messaged the seller to see if they could provide tracking info. No response for a couple days so I opened a case. A few days later the seller said that work had been crazy (can't ship for two weeks even when not at work crazy?) and uploaded tracking info. Two days later hit eBay's deadline for responding to the case and without me doing anything, they closed the case and refunded my money. eBay's message said that the tracking info was invalid; it's a valid number but USPS doesn't say that they actually have the item.

I bought a 11x18 piece of OA by Eastman on eBay well below market value due to a personalization. It isn't that hard to remove them if one cares to do so. It was my name so I was happy but if I want to sell it - off it goes.

It seems too many treat eBay like an online casino game.

Fortunately the winner paid immediately and even gave me a "God Bless" comment so assuming he is Christian I should be okay.

I really need to look into MCS so I can only whine about the checks coming to me instead of stupid stuff...

Unless the buyer was a villain in a Blade movie, you're probably ok.

@Bronte I've had mail delivered where it needed a signature. No signature after 7 days gets returned to the sender,

But that was a letter from the government.
And the lovely postie didn't bother to knock in my door or leave a note saying something was tried to be delivered but needs a sig

Seems an odd choice to trim now, but could have been a “practice” book someone worked on in 1985 or whenever.

@EbayMafia - I had not even thought of that aspect of the lavender label. Unfortunately, you are probably right. When i see a lavender, i first consider if it is a comic i want in my collection that would be an upgrade. (Keep in mind peeps, i am one who would look at it like a classic car resto). If not something i want/need, I move along. If i did want it i would first have to equate how over-graded it was. Cause, you know, i gotta have more CBCS cowbell and would send in for proper grading.

Can't this be said for any restored book graded by any company? Or am I missing something?

Is anyone else having an issue with your Ebay listings disappearing after the 30 day listing period is over? Today I had several listings end, they were not automatically renewed, and they don't even appear in archived or unsold listings (I can't find them anywhere).

@Siggy Yes, but this hot book in that unusually high grade, with the kind of restoration that the average collector can't spot. It's a pretty compelling opportunity for anyone unscrupulous enough to crack and sell raw.

Just checking. I didn't see anything that made this particular slabbed book more of a scam candidate necessarily than other trimmed 9.0's+, other than it's a key (w/lower case 'k').
