Yeah, I saw that one and passed it by because I couldn't understand why someone would crack a 9.4. Maybe that was the one that was graded but it looks like it took some hits since then.

Reported. It would be nice to be able to send an image of the original book assigned that label. It would make their job easier having that for context. |

Ok, so I'm a little slow, this could be a train wreck. Without even clicking the link I see reasons why I wouldn't call this a 9.4. Thats not the problem. Am I to believe that someone has counterfeited CBCS encapsulation that well? Once again as a disclaimer: I'm not good with Ebay or book values period, tracking books and sellers, sales, and traffic isn't my cup of tea. Could someone explain to this third grader what is going on? I legit need the education.

Wowsa, thanks @Siggy. The lengths people will go to scam always baffles me. Seriously, if you invested the time it took you to create said scam you could have accomplished who knows or what.

The book that was actually slabbed with that label is a different book, made clear by the date stamp. Someone probably did a crack and press or crack and sign on the real 9.4, but kept the label to display in photographs with other Hulk 180's. |

If these auctions make it all the way through, he had a good day. No way the ASM 19 or 129 will be a "NM+/MT" after a press.

I would be weary right away with a book out of the slab with a grade label, too many red flags!!! I'll admit I've never cracked a book but if it were for a press..well then I'd press it and get it re-graded and I guess keep the old label to scam people?? If for a signing event I would need to be 100% that it was happening and would likely crack at the event, and send for grading...again..keeping the label for scam purchases. I see very few times you would crack and not re-slab, especially for some of these higher grade keys....so really the main reason to have a grade label on it's own doesn't exist. |

Stupid question. I can understand why a person would want to go off ebay if you were a seller. However, I can't figure out why a buyer would insist to do purchase off ebay. What am I missing?

@Bronte maybe avoiding sales tax? They don't want eBay Bucks because they don't believe in free handouts? They don't want to support stuff like this, even indirectly? They want to increase the chances of competent packaging? I say all that semi-tongue-in-cheek as a fairly frequent eBay user, but I can see reasons to stay away from either side of the sale. |

@xkonk Sales tax avoidance makes the most sense. Being in Florida I don't have to ever pay tax for some reason when I buy stuff off ebay..... |

@Bronte the only time I get buyers asking to go off eBay is because they want a discount. Avoiding sales tax is probably on the list now for some folks who have to pay it. I tend to ignore messages that ask me to go off eBay when it is sent through eBay's message system.

@Studley_Dudley This one guy messaged me. My book was not taking offers. I decided to listen and ended up haggling with him. We negotiated on a price and when I sent him the offer we agreed in he said I want to do it off ebay. I told him I wasn't interested... |
