Their intent with doing this goes to the "cold-caller" sales method. Call 100 people and someone will be stupid enough to buy that piece of swamp land, pump & dump stock, etc. In this ebay message variation, the hopes is to get someone who will turn around and give them the oh thank you how low can I sell it to you for, to which the messager will then resell at the higher price. So unfortunate, but some will fall into the trap. 95% won't.

Why Ebay auctions can be risky for sellers: https://www.ebay.com/itm/MARVEL-SUPER-SPECIAL-16-CGC-9-2-WHITE-PGS-EMPIRE-STRIKES-BACK-1ST-BOBA-FETT/124319298747?hash=item1cf201f4bb:g:oukAAOSwr~lYqyov https://www.ebay.com/itm/Marvel-Super-Special-16-The-Empire-Strikes-Back-CGC-9-2-White-Move-Adaptation/303667934349?hash=item46b404f48d:g:oIgAAOSwAQpfSRoM Same CGC 9.2, Same White Pages, Same day of sale...$70 auction vs $163 BIN. Also, best not to have your auction end at 7:52 AM PST Friday Morning. A Sunday afternoon ending alone might have doubled the final price. |

And no indication that these are reprints...looks to be duplicated down to the original ads. |

Got a return request the other day because the buyer changed their mind and it's not what they need right now. I should have followed my instinct on this one and cancelled the transaction right at the start.

So, I'm still waiting on a book to be returned so the case is still open. Does that affect my ability to buy on eBay? I get error messages when I try to check out.

Got the return today. Item was damaged that I received. First is the back cover of what I sent. ![]() This is the back cover of what I received back. ![]() Bear in mind the reason for the return is that the buyer changed their mind and that it "wasn't what they need at this time". There is no mention of damage. Is it better to call ebay first to decide how to work this out? This is my first return, and my baloney alarm is going off. |

@Studley_Dudley I would definitely call ebay on that one. Looks like they may have swapped out the book?

@Studley_Dudley: Yes, call eBay and make sure it is noted the return was "no longer wanted" but that the book came back damaged. At no time did the buyer state any damage to the comic and was only returning from buyer's remorse. eBay may look at the history of the buyer to see if there is a pattern to his/her behavior for returns.

@MutantMania I don't believe the book was switched but rather it was damaged then returned. Here are the original scans of the book. The front cover on the bottom left corner shows some wear. ![]() ![]() Here is what I got back. Some spine ticks & creases on the front and whatever happened on the back. ![]() ![]() So, I'm fairly positive it is the same book. I just don't know where the damage came from. It certainly wasn't me. The item was delivered on 9/17 and the return was initiated on 9/24. I talked to some guy from ebay customer service and he recommended not to refund the purchase price then contact ebay the day after the refund window closes. |

I think it started going back up a few months ago. I bought a newsstand CBCS 9.4 in 2018 for $300 and now it looks like it's more than doubled in price. $650ish for a 9.4, maybe more for the newsstand collectors since barcodes are all the rage now. It has gone up. Not sure if it's hype over new characters or just an interest in all things symbiote.

Looks like there is a new Netflix animated series and toy line coming out but not sure that would qualify a huge bump considering a new cartoon comes out every year or so now. Did Disney buy Hasbro or something?

Well, I just got a beautiful copy of the 1-per-store Ross Timeless composite cover. It was shipped, unfortunately, in an envelope, inside a padded envelope, and had no support at all besides the backing board. Here are pics of the inner (bent) envelope, and the comic itself. Such a waste. It may be salvageable. The whole book has a shallow bend, but there are also two small spine ticks, that look worse in the picture than they do in person. With a good press it still has a shot at 9.8, perhaps. But I don't want to mess with it. I've already initiated a return. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Not sure why they go up since GI Joe had 3 movies (including the animated movie) and all are pretty lackluster. I've heard Hasbro may be trying to establish a toy-based film universe so maybe that could be it. Mind boggling for Transformers 1 though. Not sure what's going on. |

Has anyone gotten raw books taped to the bottom of a box? I've had this done a couple of times and I'm like wtf? They dont tape it with tabs so you have to sit there and scrape with finger nails until you get the tape to lift. And if you didn't see one, you get a damn spine tick. I think I created a non color breaking one. While I appreciate the box. Why tape it to the box. It makes no damn sense to me.and why not use painters tape? Wtf do you use packing tape? |

@Bronte hopefully they were in a bag before they were taped! My main complaint with CBCS shipping is that they use packing tape on the bubble wrap. It's damn near invisible and a pain to open. |

@xkonk It was in a bag. But that thing was also sealed. Which made it hard to open because you didn't know how deep to cut. The guy left no slack and the seal was the type where it was super sticky. Very unforgiving. CBCS packing is a pain, but thankfully its impossible to introduce spine ticks due to plastic enclosure |
