@esaravo Thanks for explaining. That's quite the deal, about half of market on a quick selling book. I think maybe he missed a "1" at the front of the starting prices? I just checked the sellers other listings, unfortunately it doesn't look like any other opportunities like this are being offered.

@Yoosh5492 Even cheap books I try to do a good job packing. Every book I send out I always wonder if I did a good enough job. See that is like watching an episode of Hoarders and realize that you may have a messy house, but it's not that bad. Makes me feel better about my packing.

Oh my god, that's horrible. WHY!?!?

I got a Marvel Comics #1000, the rare cover with Spidey and Mickey? Poor guy, didn't know how to pack comics, but, bless his heart, he tried. Wrapped it with a TON of orange bubble wrap. But just didn't have much support, and didn't realize the bubble wrap could bend, too. Comic arrived with a nice dent in the spine, the whole package was bent.

Good guy though. Offered me half the purchase price in refund. Might get a 9.4 out of it. Such a shame.

I put a book on ebay for far less than what it goes for on gocollect by accident. Guy sends me an offer lower than my posted price. I looked up the price noticed mistake. I thank the guy for bringing it to my attention and killed the auction.

He could of just bought the book and resold and made a profit. Nickle and diming someone on a good deal isnt always a good idea....

Hahahaha ... "Ebay will only let me put it up for $500 but I'm asking $3000 OBO." Oh, boy. If anybody actually falls for that, they deserve the scam.

Exactly why I do not partake in these. This one is just so enticing. There is a seller (forget the name) who does legit “chases”. He/she had several ASM 129s a while back. I figure I’ll treat the UF4 like a scratch off. I rarely get my money back. at least I’ll walk away with something if not UF4.

In case you're wondering what the market for color touch/trimmed books looks like, this seller has several restored raw keys up for auction. I plan to bid on a few of them for my unslabbed PC.

@EbaySeller - It would be helpful if that seller showed the inside of the covers so you could see the extent of the color touch. Also, "almost perfect high grade" seems to include a popped lower staple on the cover of the Avengers #57 - which is not mentioned in the description.

Buyers Tip: Items offered on Ebay by Dave and Adams Card World can be purchased directly from their website at 10% less and so far I have not paid any sales tax or shipping...so for those of us who pay sales tax it works out to about a 20% savings. I've made a couple decent sized slab purchases from them in the last 2 weeks. I don't really trust their raw grading.

website is: www.dacardworld.com

Here is a really good example of why I don't trust their raw grading, take a look at the back cover:

Nice to see an example of CBCS grading getting it's due respect:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Uncanny-X-Men-94-2nd-app-Storm-Nightcrawler-Colossus-3rd-Wolverine-CBCS-7-0/203060832077?hash=item2f475e674d:g:VcwAAOSwfFRfIGk-

Not only did the CBCS 7.0 sell for more on the same day, but the CBCS pages were Off-White vs. CGC White.

Notice also that selling an X-men 94 at auction seems to be a really bad idea. Looks like the BIN books sold for 20%-40% more:

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=X-men+94+7.0++&_in_kw=1&_ex_kw=&_sacat=0&LH_Sold=1&_udlo=&_udhi=&_samilow=&_samihi=&_sadis=15&_stpos=90803&_sargn=-1%26saslc%3D1&_salic=1&_sop=12&_dmd=1&_ipg=50&LH_Complete=1&_fosrp=1

This is bijoubaby05. He’s been selling restored or trimmed books as unrestored for as long as I can remember. Always gives a full refund if customer complains, so his feedback stays clean.

Let's see if this works. Here's a link to an ended sale on ebay for a Batman 181. It has some serious transposition from another book on it's cover. Let's see if any of the experts out there can figure out what the other book was. I don't know, just curious. Sorry no prizes available.

Has anyone ever had someone message them telling you that they like your books, good luck with the sales, etc, then criticize price points in an effort to help you out? There is a guy who has done this to me twice now when I listed some slabs. I'm not getting any sort of ill intent with it, but it strikes me as odd. If there was an error in the listing like a wrong picture or something I can see reaching out to make sure everything is good. I don't know. It seems... weird to just randomly message me about it. To my knowledge, I've never had any dealings with the person before. The first time I responded with just a generic thanks for your interest kind of message. I think I'm just going to let it go. I don't believe the person has any intention to buy anything from me, so why message me?

Not for comics, but when I've sold basses online, I've gotten plenty of those types of messages. They'll tell me how much they like the bass, etc.. and then start nit-picking everything that's wrong with it, and my price.

I usually respond with "Are you interested in making an offer?" and that stops any more correspondence.

Have I told you about the time I dropped off 3,000 comics at SDCC? Scifinator private msg quote post Address this user
Their intent with doing this goes to the "cold-caller" sales method. Call 100 people and someone will be stupid enough to buy that piece of swamp land, pump & dump stock, etc. In this ebay message variation, the hopes is to get someone who will turn around and give them the oh thank you how low can I sell it to you for, to which the messager will then resell at the higher price. So unfortunate, but some will fall into the trap. 95% won't.

Why Ebay auctions can be risky for sellers:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/MARVEL-SUPER-SPECIAL-16-CGC-9-2-WHITE-PGS-EMPIRE-STRIKES-BACK-1ST-BOBA-FETT/124319298747?hash=item1cf201f4bb:g:oukAAOSwr~lYqyov

Same CGC 9.2, Same White Pages, Same day of sale...$70 auction vs $163 BIN.
Also, best not to have your auction end at 7:52 AM PST Friday Morning. A Sunday afternoon ending alone might have doubled the final price.

What appears to be homemade replica copies of Batman #1, X-Men #1, Avengers #1, etc. Seller has 3 whole pages of Golden Age, Silver Age, Bronze Age key issues. And no indication that these are reprints...looks to be duplicated down to the original ads.
