Suck it up, buttercup!! KatKomics private msg quote post Address this user
Won this a week or two ago but now in my hands!!!

Might send in for VSP this month??? have to see what other VSP I could send....think I will skip the hand off at a convention though and opt for mail-in!!

Looks like some scuffing to the left of "F" in Flash....might get lucky and it cleans out?..if not still a solid book with signature and sketch from the cover artist!!

@obrie2tm - He sometimes signed these types of covers using his first name backwards - Xela.

@esaravo oh really? I hadn't heard that. Would he only sign Xela in those instances?

I believe he used it on many of his painted covers between 1947 and 1949. Hereโ€™s a Xela-signed cover I borrowed from the internet, since I donโ€™t own one. A Schomburg cover is on my want list.

One of his most famous painted Xela covers, and one that is way out of my price range, is the Startling Comics cover with the robot holding a girl. Lots of people have said that Bender from Futurama looks a lot like the robot on that cover.

Just picked these up on fee-bay. Seller claims 7.0-8.0 range. Between these, 39, 52, & 53, I only have 93 to go to complete a TOS run. ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†

Great books for sure...that issue 79 is a key in the making....and I love the cover of issue 80 especially...just quick grading the covers, but they sure do not look 7.0 or 8.0....closer to 6.0-7.0 perhaps..but great pickups. When you get ready to flesh out that run let me know what issues and condition..i might have one or two

I agree. But I priced them in the 6.0 range when I made the offer. The more major keys Iโ€™m missing Iโ€™ll buy graded.

I have a humongous aloe plant. Literally two weeks ago I had to pull most of the leaves because it was falling over. I threw them all away knowing how useful they are and here we all are two weeks later.

Sad news: my LCS' owners had their car engine break down. It's their baby so they're getting a new engine but need the down payment. So they're selling some of their personal collection.

Good news: now I have this.

To answer your question, no, this is not where the comics go to die. MutantMania private msg quote post Address this user
Technically these are not new to my collection but kind of forgot I even had them.

My wife wanted to go through some of my boxes for a Wonder Woman hunt.....So we go to my storage and started going through about 30 long boxes and she was finding some stuff she liked.
It's cool to see her light up when she finds something cool
After hours of looking and on the very last box she smiles and tells me this box has lots of the books that I like which are the older ones.

Now I don't claim to know or remember all of the comics I have but I thought for sure I would remember a box like this So it turned out to be an awesome day for both of us.

Also some of this stuff is probably going to hit my sales thread so keep an eye out
